Wheres the love for the Playmaker
« on: May 27, 2008, 03:23:24 PM »
Where is all the love for the Playmaker? All I read about is the Psycho, BW Venom, Arch Rival, and the Momentum Swing. Oh yeah forgot about the Emerald Vibe. I've even seen some videos on some of the new stuff. Is anybody excited for this piece?
What is Ebonite up to? Shoot we didn't even get a vid of the Complete NV.
I for one can't wait. I just read on bowlingball.com that June 3rd is the date.

Buddies has one up for the complete nv, and ebonite released a vid with Ronnie Sparks in it.  I'm pumped about the playmaker.  I think its one of the best looking balls i've seen in some time.

I do agree it is a little under the radar considering it's release date is quickly approaching.  I'm hearing more about the NVD and the re-release of The One.

Its just like the Gamebreaker.  Most underrated ball out there.  No hype, just results.

Can not wait for the ball. I have 3 Gamebreakers and will be adding another shortly. I can't figure out why these balls are so overlooked.

Joe, I think it is because it isn't classified as a premium ball and doesn't sell for a premium price. Many people shy away from balls because they don't sell for as much as  a ball requiring a high price and is classified as a premium ball, even though it may out perform a premium ball. For example, many Track fans will tell you that the Track Havoc was one of the most under rated balls in the Track lineup and it wasn't classified as a premium ball and it sold for a lesser price.

How much different do you expect this ball to be from the other ebonite "flippier" balls like the raid, angular one and rxs300?

I'm wondering which numbers on the Ebonite web site are right on the Playmaker?

One place it shows the length 19 and the hook 38

And in another it shows the length 24 and hook 39

Which numbers are right?????????

The numbers are strange. From there page:
Playmaker: Length-24 Hook-39
Gamebreaker: Length-18 Hook-37

Length looks fine, but the hook potential?

Mid-range balls generally tend to be overlooked. Many players think that the more expensive the ball, the more hook or strikes it produces. The insight, that less is in many cases more or at least enough, is not very common, esp. among mediocre players. The Gamebreaker is one of those sad cases that is completely overshadowed by the NV series, the Playmaker will have a similar fate, I suppose. Another example is the Clash - at that price point, you get a VERY good piece, anything Joe Bowler might ask for. But, no, it's got to be a high MB high end heavy oil piece, probably even set up badly because the ball driller has no clue about strong asymmetrical cores. Sad, but marketing rules, as well as big egos
