I just recently got a striking motion (Posted a Review) and I thought it was a ok ball.

I got this reply in another forum

Not trying to be a jerk, but this ball is discontinued now. If you liked it you can bye them cheap. My distributor is selling the for a very cheap price. All companies have a swing and miss. I think this was a big swing and miss for Ebonite.

I had all ready knew of the little interest everyone had in this ball.

But what was so bad about it that no one wanted it? was it just too ordinary? too strong? too weak? etc.

bad name, bad marketing, lackluster color scheme so there was no shelf appeal. and the only time i saw one on t.v was when Shannon Pluhoskey was using it as a SPARE ball.

I despised the ball when I threw it at a Demo Day. Even with a weak drill (based on my PAP, it was just a pin-over-bridge layout) and a pretty smooth surface, the ball seemed to burn up the second it found friction, yet it also somehow managed to slide through oil and never really roll up through that either. Even moving six or seven boards right of where I was with the Pin Slasher (a very, very good ball, for what it's worth), the Striking Motion still left the flattest 10 pins you've ever seen in your life.

I love this ball, drilled with
morich dual thumb, shot 804 with it, you are right, it does not hook a bunch.

@ of my teamates in evansville have one, and to me it looks like a good ball. ! guy is a tweener and the other is a power stroker, and they both carry the house with it.

Well that's what I thought was the problem. Since I didn't see any reviews that said it hooked so hard it cut a doughnut half way down the lane before it struck the pins.

Looks like just a good ball, their cheap now. Might be worth a second look.

I am still not trying to be a jerk (yes it was me on the other site).
But, I think the quoted response sums it up pretty well. I do like Ebonite products and the company in general, just called it like I seen it on this ball.

Well as a follow up I used this in our city tournament.after 9 games I shot 1802 scratch. I don't know just what the pattern was, it pretty flat. cashed in singles.

over the coarse of the tourn. I went from 9 to 13 at the arrows, out to about 5. if you look at the btm issue for this ball jan. 09,pg 26, in their ball tracking test results section. I was playing the same areas as the stroker and tweener in the chart.

And for league tonite i had a 654, the thing I'm seeing with this ball is control. It is very predictable, yes it's not hook monster. But it was hard hitting and carried the ten pin well.

Is this a confirmed discontinue or rumor. I am not trying to point fingers at rumor making but it is just that the ball is fairly new on the market.

For what it is worth...
From what I saw in the video on Ebonite's website, the ball did not seem to finish very hard. If you are looking for a ball to use in specific conditions (extreme wet/dry maybe), it looks like it might be a good choice. This makes it a ball with a limited use, or at least it would be so for me.
