You think a Black Ice could dual as a dry lane/spare ball?
« on: July 20, 2005, 07:33:59 AM »
I've switched over to 15 pounds recently, and my 16 pound target zone is giving me fits.  Just can't seem to throw it as smooth as I could before, I don't know if it's mental or what.  Anyhow, I was thinking maybe I could pick something up that could double as a Dry lane ball and a spare ball, and I really like what I've heard about the Black Ice.  The V2 Power hooks by that 10 pin no matter what, but I think I could get something weaker there without necessarily having to go all the way to plastic.  Could this work?  How much should I look to pay for one of these?

The Black Ice may be too strong for dry lanes. The Vibe would work better for "double duty".

No way for the Vibe. I know its sold as a light oil ball...but my Boss (hammer staff) uses his with a label drill on nothing less than medium because its too strong. Anyway...if you really want a ball that will double as a spare and dry lane ball, go with the Dry/r

I think the Black Ice may be too strong for dry lanes and spares. You should consider a Tornado Warning. They (Tornado Warning)work wonders when the lanes are dry.

If you are looking for dry and spare, the Tornado Warning will be your best bet. Black Ice is way to strong for dry...and even the Ice (old) might be, unless you polish it up. JMO

I play in tourneys as well.  Usually one a month, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I don't know about you guys, but the Black Ice that I have (and my buddy has as well) is VERY weak.  It reminds me a lot of urethane, REAL even look, VERY little hook potential.  Ball is drilled pin under bridge, CG swung way out, OOB finish.  Cannot stress enough that this ball is VERY weak (at least mine is)
