The Blue Hammer 2001 features Nylothane II cover stock.  Nylothane II is a blend of Faball’s two newest reactive urethanes, glass beads and nylon.  This combination allows for added surface versatility and additional traction.  Nylothane II is easily polished, scuffed, or sanded to match the bowler’s style and game to numerous lane conditions.
The HD core utilized in the Black Hammer 2001 has been elongated and a third dense protrusion at a 45 degree angle to the center of the core body has been added for increased core torque.  This increased core torque allows for severe back end motion.  The Blue Hammer 2001 is a huge backend ball, with a 2.550 RG and .052 differential.  It is available in weights of 13-16 lbs

Drilled this blue hammer 4" pin X 5" cg. Wanting Something for dryer outsides. What I got was nothing. This ball starts to rev but never flips over. Tried sanding but still nothing. So went back to the shop and plugged and redrilled to 3-3/8 stacked leverage. Went back out on the lanes and this ball will not move on the backend. Very dissapointed in this new hammer. Ball was thrown on broken down condition and a fresh house shot. I run the Pro Shop here so I have tried many balls but this one is very dissapointing. Even tried contacting Faball but no one seems to want to help with my concerns. Anyone else who throws this ball, let me know what you see with it.

I have both of the new hammer 2001 twins. The black I have had for 4-weeks & the blue hammer is a week old. I love the black hammer but the blue twin will not turn the corner. I have had 5 or 6 people throw the black & then the blue all just shake thier head after rolling the blue twin.  Both are punched out per Fabal's instruction sheet.  The black hammer cover really seems to dig thru the oil. The blue twin just wants to slide. I will give this thing another shot in a few hours.           SUKIE

I don't know alot about lane conditions, but I threw this ball in league on a med oil pattern. I had this ball drilled 5"pin x 4" cg..and this ball turned the corner consistantly. I don't throw too hard, about 15mph and I've never seen better pin action. I average 184 and this night I threw a 622 with one game a 248 stringing 7 strikes. There was light oil around my target (about 15 out to 10) and the oil in middle of the lane held the ball to the pocket. However, the next week the lanes were DRENCHED and I had a bit of trouble turning the ball. I'm going to sand it a bit and see if this helps. I would say on a medium oily lane this is a great hard hitting ball.

First both another bowler and I (in home house) purchased the Blue Hammer 2001. Neither one of us could get the backend movement that we expected. Come to find out the Faball company admitted that there was a problem with production on some of the Blue 2001's. Apparently a batch of them were made with a coverstock that was harder than spec. I imagine that this is the problem that some of you are seeing.

I also own the black Hammer 2001 and when first purchased I was getting the proper action and movement that I wanted. After a couple of months I began to lose the movement. So I am not sure what the problem is. I plan on seeking out a pro somewhere and confering with them on both the balls that I have and my delivery.

I have owned several hammers and for the most part have had very good luck with them. After bowling for around 4-5 years I am still increasing my average every year. I have found out that normally a bowling ball will last around 2 years before it loses the action that it originally began with. I am new at this and would like to learn more about the game. Not sure what new ball I will end up with this coming fall. But at $200 per ball I would think that I should get a better life and longer hitting power. Maybe it is me or maybe the ball needs to be reconditioned routinely. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased a new blue hammer 2001.  Had the ball drilled 4 inches from my PAP and CG at 4 1/2 inches from PAP. This ball simply would not finish.  The house condition that I bowl on is 3-5 units of oil outside of 10 board, 40 units of oil from 10 to 10. I tried rolling the ball around 5 board and the ball still would not finish.  I tried another ball with a  similar drill pattern and similar numbers according to bowling this month. That ball hooked, so it was not the lane but the ball.  I called Faball and explained the situation to them.  They told me to ship the ball back and they would replace it with a new one. I just got the new one drilled and this ball finishes very strong, and is very predictable.  I could throw the ball outside or inside of 10 and still carry on lanes that had just been oiled for the day. I have only bowled two games so far and had 233, and 255 in out of the box condition.  The Ball was drilled almost the same as the first one, the only difference is the CG is placed at 4inches from my PAP. The point of this post is if your ball is not hooking, call or write to Faball and explain what the ball is doing. They will ask you to ship the ball to them and if it does not perform the way it is supposed to, they will replace it.  This is the first hammer that I have bought in a long time.  The replacement blue hammer 2001 looks like its going to be an excellent ball.

It's a good ball but unfortunately not really an answer for heavy oil as it promotes.  I'm a righty.  I drilled this for a lefty with good speed, fingers and 2" away track.  
Similar to the Black 2001 (see my review), this ball produces good skid and heavy roll.  I drilled it leverage at 1:30 to give a bit more flare.  When my friend went 20-5 wet/dry, the ball reacted great with good carry.  With more oil, the ball still has a tendency to skid/roll too much in the oil and lose energy and backend. i.e. 20-10 would leave a wash-out
I would compare the reaction to the Columbia Rock Star where it's good in the early league and early in the late league.  Make sure you have a little dry lane though.

Had a 2001 Blue punched up in Reno to go long, flip, hook and set.  Tried it on the Reno shot, but couldn't get it to consistently make the turn.  Actually purchased the ball for my house shot which is wood lanes, 35' of oil with strong backends.

Came back home and shot 264-196-236 right out of the box with and know this ball will be my home house ball for sure.  It does exactly what it was drilled to do and does not over react even when I really tried to rev it.  So far am extremely satisfied with this ball.

I am a tweener( avg. to above speed and just above avg. revs)

I just recently purchased the blue 2001! I had it drilled 5 x 4  with a weight hole below my thumb hole. I put the pin just under my ring finger! The ball doesn't have a high diff. So it didn't give me a huge reaction. Just a real get down the lane type of roll. I think this ball would best be suited when  the lane is  breaking down. And you do not want to move as far to the left. I have it polished to a glossy finish. It really gets through the heads good and has a little bit on the end. I would definitly recommend this ball for a power player or if you have more than avg. revolutions.

Otherwise keep this ball in the bag for a drier condition!

First of all I would like to say I do not know very much about the technical side of ball drilling.

I bought this ball from my local proshop.  The first set i rolled with it was a 246,216,and another 246 for a 708 series, which was also my first 700. I am normally a 175-185 average bowler with this ball after about 150 games I have averaged over a 200. I have shot many high 260's and 250's.

This ball works well in medium to heavy oil conditions but when the lane breaks down I have to put it up and go to a lesser ball. All in all this is a very good bal and a very good investment.
