3D Hi-Rev Offset Hammer coverstock finish...
« on: October 19, 2005, 10:04:16 AM »
I'm working on a friend's old Hammer, it's beat up pretty bad. No hook. I told him I'd clean it up a bit for him.

Any advice on grits of Abralon, sandpaper to use, polish to use?
I have Track Clean & Polish, and Clean & Sheen...

Thanks in advance.

go 220,320,500,1000 abralon in order and it should come back to life, or even the sanding discs for cab in same grits work well. I have both but like the abralon look much better than the sanding discs for me use lots of water through your abralon pads and you will be good to go.

Ps the good part about worn out abralon pads is you get finer grits that are not available as they wear out more, i have a nice wore out 1000 pad that is pretty close 1500 now. The 4000 pad is pretty worthless but shines a ball without any polish on the ball, one of my favorite trick is high speed on a spinner with 2000 abralon lots of water and stand on the ball. It burns it nicely and you have no polish on the ball at all, clears the heads booms turn on the backend hard.

Thanks...I just learned the 2000 Abralon trick.
I used it on my Travk Habov, in my Sport League shot 223-181-204.

Bowled with it today in a house where the high averahe this year is under 200.
I shot 223-254-243 with the ball...

Duke,

The modifed Hammer website has a chart (somewhere) with the factory finish for each current ball (AT LAST). It doesn't say how to get there; just the final box surface.

Charlest,
Thanks, I went on the Hammerbowling.com site. It was under tech. Specs...
They had the New High Rev...This was the original 3D Offset...it has by my bfriend's estimate 3000 games. He was going to dump it. It had never been resurfaced. It rolled out at about 40 feet for him, he's a track and outside player in his 60s...
I used 500 Abralon, 1000, 2000, and a coat of Clean & Shine, ball came out looking nice...He's going to try it tomorrow, bwfore he buys a new oil ball.

By the way, nice review on the Solution Power Plus EX...I'm going to buy one when I get my "Jeff Smith" money back from Paypal.
