Just found another Blue Hammer!
« on: April 11, 2006, 05:26:49 AM »
I found a NIB 15# Faball Blue Hammer in a generic sporting goods store in January and have already used it with great success (after having my regular pro shop drill it).  Yesterday I was back in my pro shop and lo and behold, he had a plugged 15# Blue Hammer up for sale in his small used ball section for $45!  It looks barely used, and if it was resurfaced it didn't take the logos down much.  Now I have a spare Blue Hammer.  Guess I'm starting a little collection...

We have two local scratch bowlers who throw blue hammers exclusively, regardless of conditions.  Both average in the 215-230 range (granted these guys would average duece throwing a maxim...  but still).  So I would say carry isn't a problem.  I also watch Steve Cook throw a blue hammer at nationals this year and he wasn't havning any problem carrying either...  carry is all about roll and entry angle...

I have not had any carry problems.  I think that just like with a reactive ball, it's a matter of getting it to the pocket while it is rolling but before it rolls out, and with an adequate angle to strike.

Most importantly for me, my regular lanes transition early and often and I can frequently make what I think is a good shot off my hand with a reactive ball only to be quite surprised at where the ball ends up at the pins.  If I make a good shot off my hand and hit what I'm aiming at with my Blue Hammer, I know where it's going to end up.  It rewards good shot making.

Like Strapper_Squared, I know a few high average bowlers who throw nothing but Blue Hammers.  I was always a little curious about why they did that until I got my Blue Hammer.

Just picked one off the rack at a local center. No plug work needed, just a thumb slug and new inserts. Shot 245 with the ball for the first game!

Also have teh following sitting in my private stash....

15# Ultimate Weapon
15# Black Weapon
15# Black Phantom
15# Crimson Phantom
15# Black Phantom NIB
15# Pink Hammer NIB
15# Blue Pearl Hammer NIB PIN OUT !!!!
15# Black Hammer NIB Factory polished PIN OUT!!!
15# Original Nail NIB PIN OUT!!!
15# Gray Angle

I am a believer in the urethane roll. No jump or snap or odd things on the backend...just smooth and arcy to the hole.

Gotta love it!
