How far does a sanded high rev offset go before the break? Whats a good recommended grit for a good reaction in heavy oil?

Unless you can crank the cover off the ball, I wouldn't say the High Rev is a "heavy" oil ball. I'm a power tweener and if the oil is on the heavy side, it's best to leave this one in the bag. Mine is currently around 800 and is a medium oil ball at best. Revs up for the first 45 ft. before making the turn. Ball definitely needs to hit some dry boards for optimum results. For heavier oil I would recommend a Crimson Sledge if you can find one. That one came at 600 grit out of box and can be sanded or shined up as needed. Another winner from Faball!

I had my high rev at 800 and it was too strong for medium-heavy... I polished it up and now it's fine.

It depends on the grit at which you sanded it. I've had one for years and tried many different surfaces. If its polished now, take it down slowly, not in big steps.

Although, in my opinion, that ball works better with some sort of polish rather than sanded. Sanding this ball will make it roll out to soon. When you sand this ball, regardless of the grit, it will not store energy as well. Which will make it hit weaker.

I feel the ball can play a heavier oil shot. I think it depends on the line of attack though. If there's a good enough volume of oil out there, but you've got a little friction outside, I find a down and in shot to work just fine.

As Spike did mention, I do find the Sledge more capable of handling a heavier volume more consistently and with a few more options of where to play.
