H33,

The ball is doing what is supposed to be doing. It's meant to hook in oil.

Let me re-ask you. What did you WANT the ball to do in what conditions?
--------------------
Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in one of those balls you keep buying!!

On Medium to Medium-Heavy i wanted the ball to set up EARLY yes i said EARLY, and be CONTROLLABLE not out of control

Well you didnt say about Joe lol. My bad. Before you sale it, take it to 4000 and work your way down in grit till you like. If you dont like it then, take it to 4000 polish and work your way down from there. Hope this helps.

Don't blame the kid for being mad that Joe drilled it with a layout that Brian did not want. Personally, I think he should have been informed that he was going to put another layout on it before doing it.

well that's another thing, CG-Proshop-Carl told me not to take the grit over 1500 (OOB Finish), so i can't do that

I agree he should have been informed. Another way you have to look at it though is he got a Mean Machine for $144 with FREE drilling. How can you complain there? You really can't. He saved ALOT of money. Hes young and he doesnt know about coverstock changes. He should just experiment with them and see what happens IMHO.

Mike

Btw.. Why not past 1500? Because it will CALM it down. Try it and see what happens.

He should experiment with the coverstock, but you're right, he is young and in the end will do what he wants.

It's hard to have a High End OIL Hog be more smooth, than sharp.  In my experience anyways.

Joe said not to polish it?  hmmm..well maybe you're not supposed to lol.  I dunno, but any ball that I've polished in the machines that I mentioned worked very very well for me. So that's the first thing I'll do if I can't control something, or it rolls out on me.

I even did that with my XXXcel and it started working pretty well for me at that point.  Became a LOT more smooth and predictable.  Maybe it's just the way I bowl...I don't know.

Look at it this way.  If you're already playing around with the coverstock, why not try a polishing machine?  If you don't like that either..it would take you about 2 minutes to take the polish off with a scotch brite.

You may find it's the most amazing thing you've ever seen....or thrown and you might send me a PM later and say:

"SGC300, you were right, it is BETTER!"
or
"SGC300, you freaking idiot, this ball is worse now than it was before."
LMAO

Either way you have nothing to lose

You didnt. I bet you were told to not take it past 1500 grit because you will lose reaction. Thats what you want right? If you want it to hook less, you need to change the grit on a ball. I use to have a Chaos at 600 grit and I could play 25-5 on a fresh shot with close to a flood in the middle. I didnt like that I had to cover that many boards so soon, so I took it to 2000 grit and I played 15-5. Coverstock changes are KEY to what can make a bowling ball good or bad again IMHO.

I don't see how that is possible Brian. If you want it to be less aggressive, you must polish it. Give the ball a chance.

Who in their right mind said that!?!? Lol... It was obviously a mistake of words. Again your young and heres a tip ok:

DONT SALE THE BALL!!!

Keep it and try takeing it to 4000, 2000, 1500, 1000 and then if you dont like any of those then go with 4000 polished, 2000 polished, 1500 polished, and lastly 1000 polished. After ALL these changes and you still DONT LIKE the ball, sale it!

Or you could be like me..win a ball raffle....knowing you wanted a Red Zone..which would work tons better for you....then get all excited, forget you wanted the Red Zone, pick a Threshold, then realize you'll never be able to throw it lol.
