Anger vs. All oilers on the market
« on: January 04, 2008, 07:34:37 AM »
Hello all,

I need a ball that rolls earlier than my total NV and will handle a fair amount of oil.  I am not a rev challanged player, but not a TRUE cranker either. I would guestimate at this point I am around 350rmp and comfortably at 16mph and can take that up a notch when needed.  I threw an attitude shift, and that certainly had 5-7 boards more for me than the TNV, but I never have been a big storm guy and I have taken a liking to the Raw Hammer line up.   The Pain was pretty nasty, but not QUITE what I was looking for in an oil ball.

Now know this, I don't use TRUE oil balls either. I have never got along with super aggressive balls, but thats not to say that fairly aggressive balls won't work for me on the more saturated conditions.  So the real question becomes, how does the Anger compare to the rest of the oilers out there?  I don't need to spend the most amount of money to make myself happy, nor am I too proud to buy something older, so let me know what you think.  Feel free to throw ANY brand, ANY era, and just know that I like a ball that has some recovery, not just a pure oiler rollllllll.   Thanks guys!

Anger. It's at 2000 OOB, but you can take it lower if needed. Mine was pin over fingers, and it made a good move through the oil, plus had backend. Excellent ball at a great price too. Just m .2

Fatboy's just showing off if he's willing to toss around two dimes like that. Rich ball whores like him that keep Absolute Inferno's that people sell him and don't offer the ball back when he sells it are jerks.

Anger is not bad but i think gamebreaker at 1k with a lower pin would be a great choice, resurgence also but it costs more.

Take a look at the Gamebreaker, its a smooth rolling ball that can handle quite a bit of oil and is still semi-cheap. The Best Ebonite core with their best coverstock, you cant go wrong. My Gamebreaker is a good 3-5 feet earlier than my TNV.

The question always needs to be answered...league heavy oil with dry outside? or flatter oil like seen on TV this weekend with the shark pattern?.

We have a girl around here killing it on the left with a gamebreaker with a modified revs leverage drilling...oh those drillings are sweet on either league patterns or where one can find a definitive friction spot over 30 feet down lane....

For the unitiated a revs leverage puts the pin down and the the cg down and a low weighthole about across from the thumb or lower.  These drillings can turn a one hander into a rev monster!

Questions like this can be hard to answer because ones perception of heavy oil may be different than anothers.

From a cover stand point the Anger is strong.   At it's 2000 grit OOB condition it handles heavier/longer oil very good.  If the back ends are clean this ball will back end hard!

The Anger and Pain are very similar bowling balls in that they both have strong mid-lane reads.  The difference is at the back end.  The Anger is a lot stronger than the Pain on the back end.  If the back ends are clean the Anger will give you a lot of recovery.

The Anger is going to get into it's roll earlier than the TNV!  Your also not going to loose a lot in back end with the Anger.  Many heavy oil balls will give you a strong mid-lane read but then kind of die on the back end which is not the case with the Anger.  Of course this also depends on which type of layout you choose!

The Anger a a great all around ball that takes to cover changes pretty well.  It's not the strongest Hammer ball on the market but it's up there.

Yesterday I threw my Reaction Roll....

One can't beat that for league oil(friction on the side).

Low RG, Strong surface, midlane, and big backend!

Wow that thing is STILL an ANIMAL!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I think I saw one for sale cheap lately on Ebay!

Lucky, I had a reaction roll but never got to roll it.  I ended up selling it to a friend because I was out of commision for a while.  He still has the ball but it's seen it's better days.  It rolled great for him when it was new.

I continue to be impressed with my Anger.  In OOB condition, it matches up extremely well for me across a variety of conditions.  I've used it on med conditions and med to heavy conditions.  I bowled on a 44ft pattern and had to take the surface down, but otherwise in OOB condition it handles a pretty fair amount of oil.

It has paid for itself 5 times over in bracket and tourney winnings.

I recently put some factory finish polish on my Anger and it really get's some good length.  I would say it's about 7 to 10 boards difference from when it was in box condition.

I think the Anger is a great all around ball and for the price it's hard to beat!

Well thanks for the insight guys, I am not a guy who "needs help" making it move so a true oil ball might not be what I really need.  I just want something to pick up earlier, my TNV got whooped on a PBA pattern, I was able to score, but it would have been easier with something that actually wanted to work.  For those that asked, I would not use it on a house shot, I struggle to find any place for the TNV.  I need a ball to roll up quicker on tougher shots.
