Best Grit and surface for black widow solid

The other day I wanted to experiment with my black widow and decided to change the surface of the ball not a good idea.  I sanded it down to 400 grit and hit it with clean n dull.  The ball hooks like a monster so much that I can not control it meaning I have to stand FAAAAAAR left to get it into the pocket. I am wondering what surfaces have you guys had success with.  

Did you guys like it Polished or Dull?

I like mine at 2000 abralon, with no polish.  It tamed down the backend a little, because OOB it is 4000 abralon, but it is still a hook monster for me.

The Widows I have adjusted for the conditions seen most here, is 2000 with just a small touch of Factory Finish, SMALL touch, maybe a dime size for half the ball, that small just to give it a bit of smooth.

Seeing that it comes 4000 grit, isn't a 400 grit surface kind of a strange choice in this topic? I can see 2000 or even 1500 grit, which would generally make it a lot earlier. Yes, all balls act differently and more than a few high speed, low rev bowlers might actually need 400 grit on a BW, but darn few.

I have 2 widows. I have the first at 1000 abralon with no polish. It works great on heavier oil or on carrydown.The other i have at 4000 with polish and it work very well on house patterns. It all depends on wut u want the ball to do and qut kinda of shot u want to use it on to determen wut suface to have the ball at. imho
