Bite comments: I really expected more by now!
« on: January 07, 2008, 03:59:48 AM »

Somewhat surprised -- maybe shocked -- that more people haven't posted comments about the Bite by now. Thought this would be a highly anticipated release. Is it because it's mid season? Or something else?

Another aggressive solid reactive from Hammer?  Shocking.  As if the No Mercy, Black Widow Solid, and Anger didn't already provide enough options.

I threw the BITE this past saturday and I must say it is nothing like the BW or the BWP, only one word to describe it and that word is smoooooooth.

Smooth? Wow.... that's not what I would expect from the BWs.... they have been pretty angular balls to date.

A Hammer regional staffer that I talked to Saturday said that this ball was 6 boards stronger than his regular Widow. He is a lefty and had to put it away after the 1st game. He kept moving right, and iot coming back to the hole. Much stronger than the original.

I will have it tomorrow and give my real comments, i see my posts on the rotogrip balls go ignored compared to the staff players who are like god's over there.

I am going to be talking with my rep soon to find out more about the coverstock that is on the Bite, the silver in it looks almost pearl, so it very well could be a hybrid

this ball reads the midlane and has amazing strength 'bite' on the backend... it worked well to read the super gushed Shark pattern at the stop in Reno at the Constructionjobs.com Championship...

if I don't go to medford this week I will be able to post how it works on a THS at three different centers I bowl at, so stay tuned...

The Bite is very smooth which is exactly what I was looking for.. I did not like either the BW solid or BW Pearl because they where way to "skid flippy" for me..

Its also a tad bit stronger than the Anger that I had..

I also agree with ShermDawg.. It does have some Bite on the back end.. LOL!!

I am really surprised by how this ball rolls. If I would have known what I know now I would have put a different drilling on it to make it a little more angular. I thought since both the first 2 widows were pretty angular and all they talked about was how much backend this ball was going to have I decided to put a pin under drilling on it. Now that I have thrown it, I see how smooth the ball is I wish it had a little more pop on the backend. I still like it, I am not complaining, just different than what I expected. People might call me crazy but I am going to call it a stronger Rival.

If the Bite is too smooth then the ball is rolling out.  You really need the oil to use this ball unless you polish it

I was on oil. It wasn't rolling out. It just starts making its move as soon as it smells dry. Also when I had it on a pair that was fairly dry the ball was an absolute beast. I was playing middle arrow out and it was coming back hard and hittting hard. It just is a smooth ball for me thats all I can say about it. I tried polish and it was like bowling on ice. It wasn't rolling out.
