Bite Initial impressions...
« on: January 17, 2008, 12:30:39 PM »
My Bite arrived yesterday so I stopped up at the bowl to punch it out.

Some info:
325ish rpm
minimal tilt
med to high axis rotation with my A game
faster speed, around 17 or so at the pin decks
I drill my own equipment.

Bite:
15lbs
3" cg to pin
2 1/4 top

Layout:
4 1/2 pin to pap, 25* mb 2 1/2 from the PAP
Box surface
31/32" balance hole, 2 1/2" deep
Prior to balance hole, 3/8 oz finger weight, 1 7/8 side weight

I bowled with the Bite prior to putting a balance hole in it.  I was not able to toss it after placing the balance hole in it.  That will have to wait until tomorrow.

The Bite is SICK on the backend.  After two tosses, I said, "Um, I might have to polish this thing."  I was deeper than I've ever been on our house shot when the lanes are fresh.  I normally stand around 16 or so with my DOOM and look at 8.  With the BITE I was in at 23 with my feet and looking 14 to 8.  I was only able to toss about 10 shots.  I'll toss it tomorrow on the house shot and Saturday on the Shark.

I have to agree with you on this Andrew. I'm playing my normal line with this ball but I'm using very little wrist and less wrist cupping than normal. It is stonger than my original Black Widow and it has a weaker drilling. What impresses me the most about the Bite is that is gets down the lane very clean and doesn't hook too early. I used it all night last night and it only got better with each game.

Brian, hope you don't mind the call tonight.  I just had to let you know that....you were right.

I can't wait to toss it again.

The first video I was looking 14 to 10.  The second video I was more up the back from much further outside.

My secondary thoughts on the ball are very good.  It is stronger off the spot than anything else I have.  I threw my Anger side by side and it started earlier and wasn't nearly as angular(which is what I want from this ball).

The Anger as a benchmark ball that you can certainly build a quality arsenal around.

Yellow grips and slug? C'mon man! LOL. That's the best thing about this ball WITH the Anger. Two great reactions, and one angular motion, and one with S I C K backend snap.

Nice........balls............

Clear grips and ugly color thumb mold. The thumb mold is awesome though.

Got mine today and it will be ready for me on Monday.  Love my Black Widow Solid and the Pearl is a good compliment for it.  Can't wait to try this one out.

Got a 2 nd Bite went 4 1/2 pin to pap and 4 inch mb to pap polished the ball up and this ball is money.

The 1 st one with 4 1/2 pin to pap and 4 1/2 mb to pap needs oil in box but is erractic, the polished ball clears the heads much cleaner and unleashes all of it's hook on the backend of the lane.

Probably going to polish the 1 st ball up even more than the new polished one, i have feeling the ball is going to better this way.

The polished ball still needs oil at least medium's i find both of them stronger and more backend than the BW Solid, so i can see where this ball is would be still strong with 5 - 5 1/2 pin to pap and 5 inch plus mb to pap drills.

Both pin over ring i have been on a kick lately to make assymetrical ball cores taller by going pin up and making transtion from wet to dry much faster and stronger.

Pin down for my style would smooth it out some, so maybe if you need backend you will go more over the midline versus closer.

Not quite as strong or as big a move off the back end as my Anger, but nice.

Really?  The Anger was known to be a rolly ball for heavier conditions, not back end.  You're the first person I've heard say the Anger was flippy.
