HELP. How do you guys keep BW in OOB condition? I've apparently had low maintenance equipment forever. Not opposed to regular maintenence and BW obviously needs it. I threw 2 games w/ it brand new. Great reaction and carry. Put it in bag for bowling next night, opened bag to find a shiny ball. Had an old bottle of Ball Bite, used it to clean ball semi-successfully and got reaction and carry I was looking for. Cleaned ball w/ Ball Bite 2 days later, used it for 1 game practice, no oil on lanes. Very little oil on ball, wiped it off after every shot, put it in bag. Took it out next league session 4 days later, super shiny. Used it that way, bad reaction, bad carry. OOB condition critical for me. How and when do I maintain it? Thanks for your input.

I hot water soak the ball every few days... get a bucket, get the hottest shower water you have, leave the ball for about 10 min, rinse it, then dump the water, then rinse the bucket (get all the oil/residue out of the bucket) and repeat 4-5 times and the ball will hook very much like brand new.

I give my BW a hot bath treatment once a week then I cleanmy BW with Lane Masters cleaner after I bowl in league this cleaner is excellent for getting out oil and grime in the coverstock.

I agree, I use Clean N Dull on my son's BW -- it gets the oil out and keeps it in the OOB condition.

Ebonite PowerHouse Cleaner after every set

Soak after every 30 games - you'd be amazed at how much oil is in the cover, even after cleaning each set...

I clean right after my set with storm reacta clean. I also bought a 4000 abralon pad. Every couple of weeks I use Clean N Dull with the 4000 pad. It's been holding up real well so far. I love this ball on the box condition. Strong and smooth. I tried it polished but the backend was way tooo strong. Plus with it in box condition it gives me a better progression through equipment choices.

I just recently purchased a Black Widow as well. This ball sure does require quite a bit of maintenance, but it is worth it. I am currenlty using Ebonite's Powerhouse Energizer Cleaner for cleaning after each game, and I am using track Clean N Tacky once every 15 games. This method has worked very well for me. The widow is by far the strongest ball I have ver owned. It also requires the most maintenance.

I thought that if you cleaned your ball/wiped it down with a cleaner after every set that it's considered cheating. Or when you say after each set you're actually meaning after each league.

The bottle of Ebonite Powerhouse Energizer states that it is legal for use during USBC play. I usually put about 7 or 8 squirts of the stuff on a clean rag before the first game then just use that between games.
