two completely different balls...

Black Widow is more angular / flippy and handles less oil than the cell.

Cell is more midlane with great continuation and finish.

BTW on my site i have 15# Black Widow and 16# cell for sale

Cells are flying of the shelf in our shop. In my opinion, a more versatille piece. The big difference in what I see, is the carry and the ball refuses to rollout. Unbelievable ball !

What kind of lane surface are you bowling on most of the time?

MEDIUM TO HEAVY OIL, BUT I FEEL I NEED SOMETHING FOR HEAVY OIL AND IF ITS MEDIUM OR DRY I WILL ADJUST ACCORDINGLY.

What I meant was Synthetic, wood, guardian, etc.

Based on what you're saying, though, I probably wouldn't go with a Black Widow.  If you want to stick with Hammer they make some great stuff for heavy oil, but the Widow is definitely more for the Medium stuff.

The Bite is great in Medium/Heavy and the No Mercy is still a good ball if you can find enough volume for it.

I need to say this.  The Black Widow Bite is a heavy oil ball.  The BITE is strong in the mid-lane and very strong on the backend.  This ball can handle heavy /long oil with ease at the correct surface grit for the bowler.

Hammer has a lot of bowling balls that work on heavy long oil.

I agree the bite handles more oil for example last night we had one lane that was flooded with head oil and the other was hooking I was throwing my bite and  my friend was throwing his cell of course we had slow them down but his cell still wasnt moving and bite once it turned it buried the pocket i had more turn on backend and the cell barely moved i ended up being high man last nite with a 259 and everyone else was in the low 220's probably wudve bee 300 left 2 7 pins

Belive me and I am very Hammer Loyal.  I have tossed 300 with almost all the new releases and 800 with the Pearl.  I have a Bite and a Cell drilled exactly the same and the Cell is stronger and earlier than the Bite, Solid or Pearl.

If your Bite was outhooking the Cell, the Cell was burnign up if the same player tossed both balls.  If two different players then your whole scenario changes.  I have a frined that tosses a T-Road Prl and he outhooks me by miles with any Bite Cell or any ball i toss.....

I have all three USA released Widows and a Cell.

In terms of back end:

Bite
Solid
Pearl
Cell

My Cell doesn't do much for me, but it's a nice piece to leave at home and carry with me to tournaments.

On Edit:  My RG Pluto actually has more back end then my Cell...

Nodsleinad not saying that dont disagree my bite is 1000 and his cell was oob was jus saying on the backend i got a lil more movement than he did probably cuz my bite was reading a lil sooner than his cell i just seen alot of ppl in my view with ppl throwing the cell and the bite i would lean more to the bite and the ive thrown the cell its nice ball just like the bite more i know a guy that has them both and gets more out of his bite than cell some oil patterns the cell doesnt move and where im from they use alot head oil and the cell doesnt win that battle

I have both balls but they are completely different from each other. The Black Widow solid is for medium condition and the Cell needs alot more oil. The Black Widow goes alot longer than the Cell and very angular in the back whereas the Cell is very smoother and continuous. They both have amazing pin carry. Two of the best balls every made. Get both of them and you'll have a great one two combo.

Cells are a hot commodity here too. Last night in our scratch league, we had 837, 2-300's, 299, 289, 287 all shot with the Cell. But it all depends if you want snap (BW) or strong arc reaction (Cell).

For me the Cell is thus far the most impressive ball I have ever thrown.  It handles oil well, it does well in carry down, it gets backend enough for me ( I have it drilled to get a bit of length and be strong in the backs, I love it.  For ME its twice the ball versitility wise to the widow which I found to get a little squirly on carry down. I thought the Widow was the best ball ever made for the masses, until I got the Cell.  Now I have seen the Cell in a lower rotation bowler's hand and it wasn't as "backendy" as mine, but that could be the drill.  FOR THE MASSES, the widow is the stuff, for me, The Cell is the winner.
