Maybe Hammer changed the color from the 'Made In USA' ball and now is calling it the Blue Hammer.  But of course, the only ones that know of what specifics are is Hammer and maybe the people who are testing it at the moment.

I don't think it can be a direct replacement for the original blue hammer.

The HAMMER name is now owned by a different company than the original, so this would be considered a "new" ball from them (as they were not the ones who originally made this), and I've heard that the specs of the coverstock on the old blue hammers would not be approved today, so no "new" ball with those specs could be made unless it was by the original company.

It may be good, and it may be close (if its urethane), but it isn't a direct copy of the old originals.

Well, they do have the original hammer core....or one that is similar enough.  This could just be their "new" entry to take advantage of the urethane craze, even though they have said in the past that they wouldn't be releasing a urethane ball.

Of course they tried that back in 2004 with the Pure Hammer balls.

The shape is the same but the numbers are way off: much higher RG(2.57) and much lower differential (.032).

The Black Pure Hammer was stated to be urethane/resin blend. The Red Pure Hammer was  stated to be pure resin, intended to emulate a urethane-like reaction (It didn't!).

It's a US release - There's an ongoing discussion in the Hammer Forums.
