Don't people review their auctions after they list them? To make matters worse the lister states: "My loss is your gain. My wife bought this for me but it is the wrong weight. So, here's your chance to get a nice ball for a cheap prices.

He tops it off by charging an inflated shipping rate.

I've sold many balls on Ebay and state in all my auctions that if the shipping costs exceed the stated amount by $1 or more I will refund the difference. I just think it's unethical to make a profit on shipping.

I hope the poor guy realizes his mistake and corrects the listing price and yes, it should be more like $69 or even $59 for an X-out.

Thats why I put the Ebay shipping calculator in my auctions. Putting a $20 plus flat rate may cover me if I have to ship from Oregon to say, New York, but why should I charge that to ship to someplace like California?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the shipping charge goes to the seller and that moeny is supposed to pay for the shipping.  For a seller to charge a flat rate of $23 dollars, the shipping may only end up being $15 and they pocket the rest.

That's right and did everyone know that shipping two balls costs only about $3 more than one? I shipped 4 balls once for $38 total.

If a person feels the shipping is too muchy then don't buy the product.  I have seen people on E BAY charge too much for shipping just so they can make xtra cash.  Guess what?  People pay it!

So if a person feels the shipping is too much then don't by the item!

Do I agree with someone doing this?  No, but there's really not much one can do about it other than not buy the item.

I've negotiiated shipping costs with many sellers on Ebay and most are willing to come down if they're out of line. I just bought two roto grip balls and got the shipping down from $34 to $21.

E-mail the seller before you bid and ask for a shipping adjustment. You'd be surprised how often times they'll accomodate the request.

I have sold many balls on ebay, I usually charge a flat $19.95 shipping price. Most of the shipping is somewhere between 17-21 so it is a good average... now mind you I don't pocket the money if it is only $17. I also have other costs, boxes, packing material, etc.... I feel that should be worth the extra $2.. Now if shipping is $21 of course I eat the rest of the extra costs..
