Finger problems
« on: August 09, 2003, 09:12:08 AM »
Ok this is weird so bear with me.
Lately I've when I finished bowling I've noticed that my ring finger is sprained I know it sounds weird but I'm wondering if it is from my ball (Reaper) or could it be something I could be doing wrong with my release? Can we keep the jokes down please. Any help will be a plus.

forget buying balls. See a coach. get a better fitting. the 200 bucks you will spend on lessons will save thousands on equipment. don't look for balls to fix mechanical problems only a qualified coach who can see you bowl can fix this.

Did you sprain your finger before bowling.  Like possibly at work or doing work at home before you bowled.  I sprained my middle finger in the middle of last season and it felt fine before bowling but after it hurt really bad.  It lasted for about 3mths until I took about 2mths off for the summer.  If none of that happened I would have to agree that your span is a little long or your finger pitches could be off.  If you haven't had your ball refitted within the last 3 years you should get refitted.  Have a nice day and good luck Derek.

Thanks alot for the advice, it's hard to get much coaching in my current location, but I will look into it.
As far as the sprain happening before, it's not likely it's a pretty unique sprain. I just purchased the turbo diesel, and I will have the Proshops guy double check my span, I would hate to stop using hammer balls, they are awesome, but I have to quite bowling for atleast 2 weeks when this happens or it gets worst.
Again thanks I really appreciate the replies.

I should have also said, No ball will sprain your finger. It's just the fitting. assuming bowling only injury

I agree with Omega---it's not a Hammer product that sprained your finger, it was the Pro Shop operator.

I'm getting my turbo drilled this week and I will compare the drillings with my reaper, and see how far off drilling patterns are for this ball. I'm really happy it's not the ball but a poor specs job, because like they say " Nothing hits like a Hammer". I would hate to stop using my reaper it is just devastating. I will post my result results and thats a million.

Be sure to check the pitch too - and check BOTH fingers. If the middle finger is too short, but the ring is right, sometimes it can put more pressure on the ring finger.

I just finished bowling, and my ring finger hurts all the way up to my elbow. I changed grip types - I know what's causing it, now all I gotta do is fix it.

Glad to here that we could help.  I would hate to see someone stop using hammer equipment.  It is some of the best equipment out there for the price.  I am getting ready to drill my vicious attack and sling blade.  Got them sitting down stairs just need to get the motivation to go downstairs start the press and drill them up.  Keep us in touch with how it works out for you, Derek
