Getting a Hammer NO MERCY..
« on: December 05, 2006, 12:28:16 PM »
Subject says it here. The PIN CG and HART are inline perfect. Is there any bad risks drilling this? I'm going to a skilled proshop (BeansProShop) because i know he can get this done. Is there anything that can go wrong drilling this? I want it to be just like it's supposed to be, not a dud or anything like that lol.

I used a #1 with a misaligned ball and have an X hole to bring it back to 1/2 oz pos.  NM goes relatively long with a nice strong arc to 1-3.  I've tried it everywhere from 1000 abralon to 4000 abralon w/o polish.  Going to try it tonite 4000 abralon on dryish THS w/ polish.

I'd say it is close to my Inertia with same surface for length and arcing backend with more flare and drive at the 1-3.  For some reason it can get caught up in carry down.  I've heard others say like chitown that he has no problem w/ carry down.  That's probably because his rev rate is higher than mine.  325 to 450.

See my profile for stats.

Duke,

I hear ya.  Tonite on a 6:45 PM league after a 4 man league I am going to see what ball matches up better in practice my NM or a LM/L Big Bang I recently got.  Both are relatively strong drills/strong balls.  Heads go after 1st game and lanes normally carry down.  I always move deeper playing a deeper angle but I'm a righty Duke.

Actually, I think a Black Pearl with a decently strong drill would work great on this condition.....in deep.  I'll take my The One and Buzz for deeper angles.

Report back please and I'll do the same.

Okay I usually don't add much input here but it's ask over and over again. I recently drilled a NM with the #1 layout.  My ball driller and I had to pass up on many NM with the correct pin, CG and hart for the layout plus how my track would flare.  Some of the NM we opened were, according to my ball driller would have been perfect for a lefty.  I actually had to wait for his 3rd shipment of NM until we found a perfect pin, CG and hart location for my layout and PAP (not in-lined).  He told me the negative weight will not hurt my roll and the weight block is the key here.  He told me the hart can be anywhere has long as you track over it or flare over it.  All I can said is this ball is a monster, I have been bowling over 20 years now and have almost tried every ball out there.  I get 4-5 inches of flare and actually my track  moved up.  Ball handles fresh oil with ease and the hit is nothing I have seen.  If the ball driller knows what he is doing you should not have a problem.  Just remember the have the CG within 1 inch radius of the center line so you don't have too much negative weight or positive weight.  By the way I don't have a weight hole and ended up with about 1/2 oz neg.  Can also be the ball is not matching up to your game or condition you bowl on.  Well good luck with it.

Black Pearl works great on the Sport Shot League at Beverly (when I toss it correctly). I bought the ball already drilled, but only 2 games on it. Plugged the fingers only...Ball is drilled stacked, and really reads the mids well.
One of my favorite LL balls. I'm in love with my new Awesome Revs...but that belongs over in MoRich.

I'll keep posting about the NM.

Rich is right about his NO MERCY.  For some reason it doesn't react well unless the back ends are really dry.  I can't figure it out.

Rich I think when you shot the 300 with that other guys NM the back ends were probably really dry?

I also think that the #1 layout is not good for you with this ball.

Guys Rich can tell you there was a night and day difference between his NM and mine.  Mine was crushing rack after rack.  I love this ball.  It does need some oil though.  Mine is also drilled with the #6 layout.

I think a lot of bowlers are having trouble with the #1 layout. I think it may be too strong of a layout for a lot of bowlers.  I'm not talking about high rev bowlers only.  I think if your a guy that throws a lot of forward roll in your game then #1 is not a good layout.

I like this ball so much that I will end up getting another one in the future.  This ball is fun to throw!

I think the NM has a place in my arsenal...Just have to figure out where!

I've had decent games with it, when the shot is 15 out to the 1-2 board (burning the ditch)...and when there is a little hold in the middle...but there are a lot of other balls that are good on that condition, also.

I was talking with my driller yesterday, and he said: "If you bring 4 balls to league and can strike with all 4, from the same line, there's something wrong with your arsenal."

I agree with that 100%. I always want to have a ball that will not work on the average THS shot in my bag...just in case.
