Getting a Hammer NO MERCY..
« on: December 05, 2006, 12:28:16 PM »
Subject says it here. The PIN CG and HART are inline perfect. Is there any bad risks drilling this? I'm going to a skilled proshop (BeansProShop) because i know he can get this done. Is there anything that can go wrong drilling this? I want it to be just like it's supposed to be, not a dud or anything like that lol.

Your pro shop should know how to drill it to suit your game. There's been a lot of discussion about the NM on this board, particularly in the past few days. Read those posts so you have some info to rattle your drillers brain with.

All I'll offer you is this: having the pin, cg and hart in line is very important and since yours are you should be in good shape, just pick the drilling layout that suits your game.

first off, what type of reaction are you looking for.second, make sure the driller knows exactly where you're ball track is.

I put mine with the pin above ring and the hart at 3-4 flare ring,it's a beast.

Yes just follow the drill sheet and you should be good to go.  Good luck and let us know how it works for you.

My No Mercy may be going on the auction block.

As Chitown can attest to, it flat out does not finish.
I've used it 4000 grit Abralon w/o polish; 2000 grit Abralon with andw/o polish;
1000 grit Abralon with and w/o polish; 5000 grit Scotch Brite with and w/o polish.

My Track Equation outhooks it by 6-8 boards.
Either the ball is burning up, or is defective.
My driller, Ed Moores, has drilled over 50 of the No Mercy, and I'm the only customer that has not gotten a decent reaction out of the ball.

Chitown, was using his NM last night, and had a great reaction.
I had to point my NM up 7 into the pocket...

Isn't the suggested drilling basically a label drilling with the hart LEFT of the thumb for a right hander?

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bell Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

If you're interested in a used NM, I'm putting a RH drill, low game, used NM on ebay this evening.
A friend of mine liked the ball, but the finger pitch was off. He won't throw a plugged ball.

Might have something to do with this ball tracking lower than others for some people. My PAP on this ball is 4" over 1 3/8" up which makes the pin layout  2" from the PAP. Track on my Black widow is 5 1/8" over 3/4" up. Using that PAP i should be around 3 1/2" pin to PAP. Have your Proshop check you PAP and make sure your pin is the suggested location for this ball. For me to get the pin at 4 1/2" I would have to put the pin on the grip centerline above the fingers about 3/4". With the pin in that location I would have the HART in the 3-4 tracks. Still pondering if I am going to get this ball plugged and redrilled or to leave it. I like the fact that it goes longer than my widow and snaps into the pocket.

Hope it helps

Brian,

I wouldn't worry to much if your driller knows your technique, PAP, ball speed, tilt, etc.  I'd say this about any ball with any good driller.  If, ball has correct alignment and your driller is a pro should be no problem.  Also, the NM has been out long enough now that many of the problems folks may have had.....have been worked out and are fore warned.

I'll tell ya that many more have had great success with the ball.  I think those that it didn't work for were expecting way more than they got.  The ball has such a high level of expectation that for some it just can't live up too.......JMO.

Barring the bad experiences, to those that have had success w/#1 drilling, how long does this ball go before the hook?

Scotts,

I threw another lefty's NM and shot 300. Had one with the exact same specs, drilled identically by the same driller...Ball does not hook, or finish. I call it: No Messenger, No Carry. Ball works shooting down and in, or if the backends are China...It does not like carrydown.

I bowled with Chitown last nght, same thing, his ball was eating the racks...He talked me into using the NM, and the ball was over under...It was prepped to 2000grit Abralon no polish. I went to the Track Equation, (high gloss polish) and shot 228-268-247.

I just took the ball back to 4000 grit w/a good coat of polish...I'll try it again.
