Gonna drill another BITE
« on: March 07, 2008, 05:27:50 PM »
I've been so impressed with my first BITE, that I'm gonna drill another..

5 3/8 pin to pap, pin above bridge
3 3/8 mb to pap at 45*

This one, I'm gonna shiny up for use on med conditions.  My other BITE is pretty good on med to heavy conditions at 2000 abralon.

I'd like to try another shined up also. But since I"ve already for the Solid, I would get too much overlap. My Bite is at 2000 abralon with no polish, and it's a beast.

I'd even go as far to drill a 3rd, with a strong drilling, and take the surface down to 500, for some real oil. I'd like to see it side by side with the Anger, but the Anger may have the edge in oil, I don't know. Would be a nice comparison though.

I think it's a great idea to drill up two or three of the same ball.  Of course only do this with a ball that works well for you.

I have drilled multiples of several Hammer balls:
DOOM
PAIN
NO MERCY
BLUE VIBE
ANGER

I think using multiples of the same ball makes it easier to read the lane pattern as it's breaking down.  You really get to know the balls reaction and what it can and can't do when you have multiples of that ball.

I've never really been one to drill two of the same balls.  I might drill two different balls, with the same core, like I did with the Doom and Anger.  That was a failed experiment on my part, the Doom was too early with the layout I had on it.

Fatboy, my Bite was WAY stronger than my Anger in the puddle.  Although, the majority of it is on the back of the lane.  The Anger is more rolly and continuous.

i honestly think that just having the 3 widows is a really good thing, i have all 3 drilled alike and once the bite starts to burn (9th frame of first game it seems) i just switch to the solid, then once that reaction goes, i go to the pearl, and if i need to i switch to one of the vibes.

I've got 2 solids and 2 bites. With the different layouts and surfaces, I've got a good variety of looks. I was never really impresssed with the pearl. I prefer the CV instead.

Tossed about 12 shots with the new BITE today.  It is the gravy train with bisuit wheels.  It is nice...  Pics to come.

Andrew...what kind of a difference are you seeing with between your two Bites?  I've been thinking of doing something similar with a high pin / polished Bite but am not too sure about doing after seeing what a polished regular Widow reacted like.

Honestly, I haven't been able to do a side by side comparison.  Based on my experience with the first bite(about 100 games at this point) and a few shots with the new one, the first is earlier and controllable.  It has some built in stop on the back if they get a touch dry.  The new one is more skid flip but not uncontrollably flippy.

I'll post more when I can.

Andrew...have you had a chance to do a side-by-side yet?

I just drilled another Bite (high pin with polish) and I really like the look that I'm getting with it.  Even with the polish it's still slightly stronger than my Black Widows and it gets the extra length that my other Bite needs sometimes.
