Good Cleaner For My Black Widow
« on: March 13, 2007, 08:24:53 AM »
Just got eh black widow a couple of weeks ago.  I want to keep this ball clean and in it's OOB condition.  Any recomendations for a good cleaner for the Black Widow?  I have been using rubbing alcohol after sets to get the grime off, which seesm to work pretty well, but I want something that will keep the ball in premo condition.  Any suggestions? What has worked well for your Black Widow?

Ebonite Power House after every game is what I use. Then clean and dull every two weeks or so.

I agree Medichal, the Lanemasters cleaner is awesome, don't waste your money on the ebonite powerhouse cleaner or track magic wash, Lanemasters is far superior, but I do recommend getting Tracks Clean & Dull or Tacky to use every 10 to 15 games or so, that 2 punch combo will be letting your Widow react very good for many games. Trust me

Alright, placed an order through an online site that had really cheap prices on everything only to find out that they only serve wholesale accounts.  So I looked around on the web a bit more, and found a couple of sites that had both the clean and tacky and the lane masters cleaner.  The only problem is that when shipping gets added, it almost doubled the price of the order.  So I went into my proshop and had my driller order me up one of each.  Hopefully it will end up being a bit cheaper than ordering on line.  I'll find out next week.

ya, Buddies is great, and if you want a big bottle of both, which will end up being right around 60 dollars, find something else you may be interested in to hit the $75 dollar mark, and then it is free shipping.

What is wrong with just using rubbing alcohol?

simple green/alcohol 50-50 mix.track clean'n'dull every 15 games or so,no problems yet with my widow but I also use a spinner to clean my stuff so I do get some heat on the balls while I clean them.I only use 90% rubbing alcohol.

Six pack rubbing alcohol doesn't get deep enough into the pores to get all the oil and grime build up out of the coverstock.Denatured alcohol cleans better than rubbing alcohol.

yes I could see how denatured alcohol would be a better deep cleaner.I tried some on an old ball on the spinner and it really softend up the cover and dulled it out,I had to resurface it to bring the cover up back to where it was.maybe without the spinner it would be ok.
I use the rubbing alcohol/simple green mix for the quick clean and all my stuff is nice and sticky and clean untill the next time to bowl.I do use the track clean'n'dull on the stuff I like but not on my practice balls and urethane stuff and they still work fine.
I don't care to pay ten bucks for a bottle of some ball cleaner that dose'nt seem to be anything other than some kind of cleaner/degreaser that you can get from the hardware store.
when I clean my widow and no mercy I lightly run over them with some abralon in the desired grit as these covers seem to be softer than most and they get marked up easily.
