Hammer Raw Anger too much for me...what next?
« on: May 07, 2008, 12:07:56 AM »
Hey guys. I bought my first bowling ball about 4 months back, it was a Hammer Raw Anger. It hooked too much for my bowling style though, and I couldn't bowl in a way where I could get it in the pocket, the best I could do was brooklyn, and even then I was throwing it faster than I would like. I tried lots of different bowling styles but I just couldn't get the sucker in the pocket. So, it wasn't the right ball for me. Given that the Hammer hooked a bit too much for me, and I was getting brooklyns with it pretty often: what ball should I try next? There are so many out there. Just need one where I can consistently hit the pocket. I'm a medium speed bowler, don't want to have to bowl at high or low speed. Can be any brand. Let me know if you need any other information, thanks.

Have you thought about adding polish to the Anger?

To many things I/we do not know to make a true suggestion. I'd also think there might be things that were/are not right for you with the Anger. Cover, layout, oil condition, your mark and style. I have seen Angers drilled the same for different bowlers react differently. For me, I do not do well with 3 3/8 pin/pap layouts, just not for me. Others love that layouts so as you see, there's a LOT of info missing for me to make an honest suggestion.

It probably has more to do with where you put your feet, not the ball or style.  If you are lined up wrong, then yep....you'll go Brooklyn every time.

Have you engaged a coach to help you get lined up?

What other info do you need exactly?

I already sold the ball, but I did try polishing before, still hooked too much. Where can I hire a coach? That would be good...he could watch me bowl, get me set straight and recommend a ball for me.

bowl.com and then to the left there's a drop down box where you can search for a coach.  Or ask around your local center.

Thanks for the help, Arin. I have an appointment scheduled with a bowling coach from the site you gave me.
