Hammer Viral Solid
« on: September 04, 2016, 07:26:53 PM »
I was given a Viral Solid that has a pin between the bridge so I kept the finger holes the same and moved the thumb hole for my span. The ball is in great shape but I can't figure out how to throw it. I have a Black Widow Legend that I moves really nice with any amount of speed. The Viral seems to miss right if I get a little fast, or go through he nose if it's slow. Is there a certain way to throw it on a house shot? Sometimes it comes back nice if I get it to the dry early, but that's hard to do consistently. Any thoughts or tips on this ball?

It sounds like you're dealing with over/under reaction. It just seems like the Legend is a better choice for what you're bowling on. An option would be changing the surface on the Viral Solid and removing the polish

I agree with SVstar.
The Legend is a stronger ball and for your release, for the oil you're seeing now, it is a better choice. The Viral is a step down, for when the midlane and/or heads get drier or the Legend is just hooking too much.

You can try moving your feet and target further right or sanding the polish off with a 2000 or 3000 grit pad, but it seems a shame to waste this ball when you already have this amount of oil covered with the Legend.
