« on: November 04, 2004, 12:19:29 AM »
I got a question about the Pure Hammer,..is it Reactive or Urethane, or what..?
I see different writings that show both,..and one place it's called a "blend" whatever that is,..the box says reactive. So I'm confused...little help please..
the Hammer web doesn't say what it is,..

From my understanding talking to a friend that is a Hammer Staffer the ball is a "blend":  It's a urethane with some reactive resin added.

I believe that Storm also did this with their Thunder Flash releases.  I had a Pro version of that ball and while a core can add some dynamics to a ball that was the most snap I have ever seen off of a "urethane" ball.

This is a question that has been debated multiple times.   The answer that I always give is that it is a reactive blend.  But, if it is a reactive blend then that makes it reactive because that is what reactives are.   OK?   I think the ball is a Weak reactive.

Now, with that being said this ball WILL hook.   The core in this ball causes it to rev on the earlier side, but when the ball hits dry it has a STRONG arc.

This is not your blue/black/purple/burgandy hammer of old.  This ball HITS much harder than those older all urethane balls.

This is a very good ball for many first time buyers, beginners, or advanced players looking for a control ball.

Sounds to me like the Pure Hammer is along the same lines as the Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle, which hooks more than any urethane bal I have ever seen, but less than most reactives.

It is a true blend, mostly urethane just like the old hammers were. But if you remember the old black was almost impossible to polish, so they mixed some reactive in small amounts with the pure so it would have a little more coverstock versatility, like polishing and other adjustments can be made easier.
