I think something might be wrong with my Black Widow
« on: April 19, 2007, 04:23:17 AM »
When I went to go practice today, I used my BW. I noticed that there might be a problem with it. The reason why I'm saying this was because when I would throw the ball 1 shot, then I would throw it the exact same way the next shot it would do something totally different. For example, one shot I would throw it and it would go high, then the next shot I threw it the same way with the same amount of hand, and it would barely hit the head pin. This would happen every single time. Then in the third game, I tried going straight up 1st or 2nd arrow with almost no hand in the ball at all, and it held for one shot, then I tried it again with the same amount of hand and speed, and the ball almost went brooklyn. I noticed that I have had problems with it eversince I changed the grit to 2000. Could that have something to do with it? This is really making me worried and nervous because I love my BW, but i don't have any money to get the thing fixed if something is wrong with it. Is something actually wrong with it?

Ok, I'll do it tomorrow. I'm in a bad mood right now because I had to write an essay for a scholarship, and I had to write over one little letter on a word that I misspelled by accident, and now I have to write it all over again.

Fixed.

I have almost finished the first bath. I'm gonna take it out in a few minutes and empty out the dirty water, then I'm gonna give it one more bath. I have gotten out a lot of oil so far.

I think the problem is you because balls only change pattern when you do something, or the lane does something.  I think it's all in your head.  You must be rotating it differently or throwing faster without knowing.

I'm sure his essay has perfect spelling, grammar and punctuation.

I'm of the opinion that it's operator error and not necessarily the ball.  The other thing is that sometimes houses change the oil pattern in the middle of the season and often they put less oil down.  With a ball like the Black Widow, it needs head oil to get down the lane with enough energy to turn the corner. It could very well be that the surface adjustment to 2000 grit is either making the ball roll out early and quit or hook early.  You could try taking the surface back up to 4000, but the big thing is I think your ball speed is inconsistent, which would explain your results.   I haven't thrown a Black Widow yet, but I think that when I do, it'll react similar to my Domination where I'll be able to play straighter on the fresh oil for about a game or so, and then I'll have to move left and "send it and bend it".  That's just a guess though.

it's lane surface, speed, ball layout and how the ball is thrown.  i had the same problem with my bw.  it's never the ball.  ball does nothing by itself.  in my experience, i guess my style of play did not match up to the ball. that happens. just my opinion.
