Illegal balls..as of..feb 1st
« on: January 11, 2005, 01:08:44 AM »
what's Hammers's take...since they are one of the companies selling them...i.e...rg's over .6o..as specified in nov.04?????

Bowler's have any re-course?

What about pro-shops?

Back in 70's when hardness issue came up..ball companies selling 65 and legal was 72...the companies just quit selling them....but said..."get-lost" to people who just happened to purchase one in the month preceding????

Any ball approved prior to Feb 1 is grandfathered in as legal.

quote:
Hammer is a supporter of USBC and will follow all rules mandated for manufactures.
All of Hammer's products that are currently approved will remain approved (grandfathered in) after Feb 1, 2005.  This issue will not effect pro shops.  In fact, in the next issue of Ebonite's Pro Shop Insider Magazine. We will show pro shop operators how to legally exceed the new maximum 0.060 differential specification.

Hope this helps

Okay, I'm confused, Ron.

First you say that Hammer supports the USBC, then you say that you are going to show ball drillers how to legally exceed the USBC's mandated maximum on differential.

How can that be seen as supporting the USBC? We support you, but we'll find ways to circumvent your intentions...

Grandfathering in balls is the wrong thing to do! So a person can keep using an illegal ball if they are using it today. They didn't grandfather in the 65 hardness balls when they set hardness at 72 in the 1970s. Would have been better to allow these balls to be used till the end of the season. So, start buying your illegal balls now and you will be ok, does anyone else see the problem with this?  How did they make it a fair playing field for everyone down the road?

Just because you slow down when you see a cop car on the highway, doesn't mean you support the speed limit.
