Is the No Mercy that condition specific
« on: December 16, 2006, 11:19:40 PM »
I've been reading alot of posts lately about the No Mercy, and notice that alot of people been having trouble with it unless there is a good amount of oil on the lanes. So my question is, How often do you use your No Mercy? I don't think that there are to many places that use true heavy oil.

If you can't fix your game, then I suggest beating it with a HAMMER!!!

I use mine all the time. IMO, the reason people have trouble with this ball is the layout. Again, IMO, way to many folks went with #1 drill when that was/is NOT the best layout for them.

I have drilled 14 since they came out and *knocks on wood* not one have had problems with the ball. Only drilled 2 #1 layouts and will be drilling the next one on Monday, if the guy can get the day off, if not then it's Tues ( he also wants #1, for what it's worth.

My wife also uses hers 2 out of the 3 game set, usually drops back to her trusty V2 Sanded for the third gam, but has learned the ball more so it's a toss up at times which one she uses.

I'm not knocking folks for staying with #1, but it's hard for me to believe that one layout fits everyone, if it worked that way, ..oh well, I'm done.

mine is just the opposite it will not work with any major amount of oil. when the lanes are dry .or should i say light oil is when the ball is best for me. And i have to have swing room with it . Square up and play down and in just doesnt work.

Hi Don!

Are you leaving many ten pins with your No Mercy? I'm having a bit of trouble with that at the moment but I think it's just that I'm not getting under the ball enough and lifting consistently. Otherwise, I don't think I've ever had a ball I can hit the pocket with as often than the No Mercy.

I have found that my NM needs oil.  I use it at an alley where I practice every week.  This alley puts out a good amount of oil on there blocked pattern.  The NM kills this pattern.

I also bowl on a tough lane condition league.  My league puts out 5 patterns this season.  It changes every 4 weeks.  Well i've tried my NM on 2 of these tough patterns but had to put it back into the bag; lanes were too dry.

My NM is at 4000 grit and needs oil.  I may polish it with factory finish polish just so I can use it during league.  At least see if I can use it at league.

If your buying a NM think of it as a heavy oil ball.  I kow it can be used on some med conditions but this really depends on your style.

I can use my NM on anything from light to medium heavy, it just depends on how the backend is. Even with a lot of carrydown though I just feather the release a bit and it still hits hard.

I'm finding the NM to cover more conditions consistently than most of my other equipment and reacts to different lines and hand positions very, very well.

I've left mine OOB and just the other day hit it with 4k Abralon as it had shined up quite a bit. Right now it's my fave ball and the first one out of the bag.

As we've all said before: DRILL IT CORRECTLY AND ENJOY!!!!!

To answer your question, in my opinion it is. I had my Mercy redrilled to #6. I threw it right before my friday league last week. To short of a pattern and not enough oil, so I couldn't get to good on a read of how the new drill worked. I when out yesterday to the house I bowl league on Tuesdays. It's a longer shot with a little more oil, not as much as it will be Tuesday but I could get a read of the ball. I used to leave a lot of corner pins with this ball, but with the new drill, I get that little more pop on the backend that I need without trying to tear the cover of the ball. I managed to throw a nice 248 with it first game. I think it will work as the ball above my doom. It does need oil to work properly. The number one drill is very aggressive. You will need even more oil to get it to work right. 2cents.
