Maybe a hammer.
« on: August 08, 2006, 02:31:50 PM »
I'm in the market for a reactive resin. Normally a would just get Lane#1's new solid cobalt but, I'm hearing such good things about the widow that maybe a new hammer might find its way in my bag. I need to see a video of someone throwing the black widow.I need  alittle convincing cuz, all I throw is lane#1! I'm ask'in for you HammerHeads to show me what this ball will do!! I absolutely love the look of the ball!

I don;t have a vid of the BW but I can tell you it has a unique reaction.  It's kind of like a super strng banana arc to it.  You don't see many balls with this type of reaction.  It hits very well also.

You know Hammer also has two very good balls at a great price.  The Doom and Pain are great bowling balls.

The Doom in it's box condition is a reactive pearl that is good on med and light oil.  This ball flat out carry's the pins better than any ball I have ever owned.

The Pain in it's box condition can handle more oil than the Doom(box condition).  Also hits and carry's great.

I'm NOT a "HAMMERhead"; HOWEVER, even I am impressed with the newer stuff that HAMMER is putting out. The "HAWG" series, the "RAW Hammer" series, and now the Black Widow ... WOW !!!
If I wasn't such a die-hard for my line of equipment, I'd be getting some of these !!! BTW, my first reactive resin ball was the original FaBall black Hammer back in the mid 80s with which I rolled my first "7" back in '85; since then, I've owed the blue Hammer, pearl Blues Hammer, and the Blade reactive pearl and loved all three of them.

Just an FYI: The original black hammer was produced years before reactive resin was introduced (1991...ex-caliber). It was urethane.

OOPS ... my bad, and thanx for the correction !!! I guess that I need to go with rounded scoops of coffee in the morning for that first pot, and not level scoops, since obviously the caffeine content in this mornings pot wasn't high enuff to wake my dumba@@ up enough to remember that fact when I posted that thread !!!
Thanx again for setting me straight !!!

Thanks for all the replys. However not really looking for older hammer stuff, and money is not an issue. Just really like the specs.of the gas mask core, dont no much of the Violent Reactive cover but it sounds cool! Really need someone(maybe a hammer staffer) to put up vid's ! BTW that would really help get the word out about hammers new stuff. It works for Lane#1 .

I know I never had a buzzsaw that hit any harder than anyother ball I've owned.I just traded away my last saw for a black widdow.I have the big deal with the gas mask core and the hit on that ball is just silly crazy!better than my super carbide, carbide bomb, silver bullet, original purple.the only saw that I really liked was my cherry and that cracked on me.ofcourse I do own a few hammers that are meh.

While that one may have been urethane, Faball was a few years ahead of it's time when it actually produced the first reactive urethane ball.  They never released it because they felt it wasn't what the customers were looking for.

Going down friday to the proshop and see what the price on the widow is. Really would have loved to see it in action before buying one but, maybe I will just have to make one and post it. Besides the widow and big deal, any other balls have that core? Thanks!

OOPS! Reminds me of when I developed a stick on system that I eventually abandoned actually marketing because my girlfriend at the time said it was a stupid idea. Everytime I use VELCRO I cringe just a bit. LOL.

I had the newer Ebonite version as well.....but traded it off.

I wound up with that ball.  I went to use it the first night of league this summer and BUSTED a HUGE chunck out of the shell by the thumb hole.  VERY CLEARLY a shell fracture.  Hammer said, sorry, we can't (won't) help you, but still buy our stuff.  I miss that ball.
