« on: October 27, 2007, 05:41:21 AM »
i was in the pro shop last night and my friend showed me this bwp he got in that had the mb marked twice. pretty cool. maybe if i drilled it up it might hook twice as much...dont they catch these mistakes?

They don't always catch them, but this ball should have been considered a "blem".

From the looks of it, the one with the small locator pin ( lower marking ) is probably the correct one, but there is NO WAY to know for sure until it is spun on a determinator.

If the lower one is the correct MB, and you could come up with some type of drilling that allowed you to put the thumbhole or weighthole where the mis-mark is, you would never know the difference.  Should be pretty simple for a righty wanting a label drill to drill out the top one, or maybe even a modified "RICO"  drill for the weighthole to be put there, IF the lower one is correct.

Wow! That's crazy. Seems to have slipped by. Did they both have the small white marker pin in them? Or just one? Just curious.

After further review, it looks like MANY options would work IF the lower marking is correct.  Even a pin-up, CG out drilling would let you put an x-hole on the upper marking.

If I were absolutely sure the lower marking was correct, I would buy it without hesitation because, after drilling out the offending mark, it wouldn't be different from any other BWP.

It would be my bet that IT is the correct one, but I would want to spin it up anyway, just to make sure.

would it really matter if the other mark wasn't drilled into? Would it react wierd?

The bottom one in the picture would be the true MB since it does have the white marker in it and it is the one 6 3/4 inches away from the pin. Looks like the engraver had a hiccup there.

No, it wouldn't.  Just thinking about how you could drill it so that the extra marking would be drilled out by a hole so that the ball would be cosmetically more pleasing than if the mark was left on the ball, that's all.
