NM Does it Again...almost...LOL
« on: December 28, 2006, 02:28:45 PM »
League tonight: 299/788....stone cold 8 pin in the 12th and stone cold 8 pin in the last game to blow an 800.

The No Mercy just amazes me. I've never had a ball rev up the way this one does and carry so well. Everytime I read a post criticizing the NM i just cringe and think you're missing out on one of the BEST balls to come out in ages.

I've had my NM for about a month now and have shot league scores of 300, 299, 280, 279, etc, etc. Doesn't matter if it's first or second shift, oily or on the drier side, this ball adjusts so well to changing trajectories and hand positions that sometimes I think it's possessed.

I thought the BW was awesome but for my game the NM is just plain SICK, SICK, SICK!

The NM is a very impressive ball.  It sucks that some didn't get to see this balls potential.

Both of my NM's kick butt.

Like Norm Duke says it's not the ball but the bowler, good for you on your scores. I did not like the NM and think it is junk to each his own, worst Hammer ball made in years. Yeah it is my driller he does not know what his doing right sure hahaha

No the its me that right i stink and know but hey its alright with me since i got rid of that piece of junk.

well I have a little story of my own on my nm.I bowl in two houses, both Brunswick synthtics.house A I have used the no mercy very successfully no matter what the pattern.house B my no mercy rolls out at the 30 ft. mark and hits the pocket like a lame duck, needless to say I don't use it much if at all in house B.both houses seem to put out the same amount of oil and house B has a flat long pattern to it.the only thing I can think off is the type of oil each house uses is diferent in viscosity plus the height of the ceilings are different.if I only bowled in one house and got the reaction I get useing it in house B I might not be a happy customer either.I'm interested to see if I polish the ball up what type of reaction I would get in house B but I'm afraid of screwing up a good thing and my widow works prety good.

The NM needs oil.  It's a heavy oil ball that can be played on med patterns if played on the correct part of the lane.  I have noticed mine will hit weak if it's burning up.  There are many conditions where I can't use the NM.  It's a condition specific ball.  However on the correct condition it kicks some major butt!

I own about 6 strike balls right now.  However I only bring 3 strike balls with me most of the time.  I bring the DOOM, PAIN and NM.  The PAIN can handle heavier oil with ease.  The DOOM covers the other end of the spectrum.  My NM is the condition specific ball to give me a different angle on the fresh patterns or if there's a lot of carry down present.

It's interesting how two bowlers that know their equipment inside and out can differ on what works and when. For myself, the NM covers more conditions than the BW or much of my other equipment. Last night we bowled on lanes that had been "chopped up" pretty good by a handicapped women's league (no offense intended, but that league does tend to spray the ball around for the most part). There was still a decent line to the pocket but carrydown had the big swing shot leaving soft 10's and by end of the second game brooklyns were becoming common place. With the NM I decided to play down and in (7th board) keeping my hand directly behind the ball instead of coming around it which is my normal shot. I moved exactly one-and-a-half boards the entire night. While everyone else was playing the track area which had migrated between second and third arrows the NM allowed me to play a different line and remain unaffected by what the other bowlers were doing. My shot stayed virtually the same the entire night and the NM ate up the rack shot after shot.

Now, I do agree that the NM can burn out/hit softly when there's just too much friction in the heads, but as long as there's a skid area that allows for a midlane transition my NM goes into its heavy arcing roll and it really makes no difference what the backends are like. It's almost like 20 feet of hookset with the afterburners kicked in. This reaction was accentuated after we drilled the "mega x-hole" (over 6 inches deep). Whether the x-hole pumped up the original reaction or it's just that now the reduced ball weight is easier for me control, I'm not sure. I do know that I've been able to use the NM on a variety of conditions with very few adjustments.

Everyone's a bit different. Heck, I bowl with a guy on Mondays that uses his Total Shock and Awe in the 4th game when we're all changing over to whatever is shiny and drilled weak. Go figure.

bowlingnut, you can't even make a 10 pin spare, what makes you think you should be able to knockdown 10 pins with one shot?

see how different styles match up to different equipment.I bought the no mercy that mrbowlingnut had and shot a nice little 7 something right off the bat.sure the span was wrong and the drill was off and the grips were off but I liked the carry so much I sold it and bought another and drilled it to my specs,it's been my favorite ball to use when I can.on the other hand mrbowlingnut thinks it's a dud as do some other people.I think to them it probably is,goes to show you what a crap shoot buying new stuff could be.

I know its no oiler in my hand even after redrilling it getting the pin to 4 inches from my pap,(all i could get because my heart and cg are off line), It is still the same dud it has been since it was damaged and repaired. I have had some ok games with it ,but they have all been on drier conditions. Anytime there has been oil and i have tried to use it ,it has proven to be far less than admirable and not even close to anything resembling a ball you would call a heavy oil ball, not even a medium oil ball.Without dryness this ball sucks.
