Old Blue Hammer
« on: March 04, 2005, 07:58:45 AM »
I have the original old blue hammer, for over 10 years.  I average 197 bowling one night a week, and love it for spare shooting.  The problem is that it just doesnt have the back end and on oily lanes tends to just slide.

What kind of ball would you recommend?

Ummm.. You said you love it for spares ? If it just slides.. aint that what you want in a spare ball...  I use a Target Zone.. more it slides the better for me.. hooks 2 boards if even that..

Guess its just late..

Not enough information given to make a recommendation. What is your bowling style? What are the lane conditions? If they are very heavy, I wouldn't recommend the Big Blue. I'm a power tweener with decent revs and avg. speed and my Big Blue skated on our local house shot. Ball hooked about as much as my (old) Blue Hammer did. Made for an expensive spare ball. Look at the Diesel lineup for a good mid-priced ball that reads the midlanes well and give a strong, continual arc through the pocket. You can't go wrong with any of them! I don't have a Real Deal, though if G_thing says its a good ball, you can believe him. He owns enough Hammers to make that statement!
Good luck finding what you're looking for. There's a Hammer that will duplicate what you're looking for. Just ask enough questions and you'll get answers here.

Spike, I agree about the Diesels.  He could try a Power Diesel.  I think the Turbo would have too much length, and until next week, I can't say about the Big Block.  Don't forget the Dioesel Particle too, moves very well for me in heavy oil!
