Older Hammer ball question
« on: May 08, 2005, 05:34:00 AM »
I am very new to bowling, just completed my first league. And I have two questions actually. First one is I have an older Hammer that is burgandy and it seems to have a dull finish but isn't as dull as the pic I have to include here. Now what is the current line of Hammer products is compareable to my ball.

Second question is when I have looked at other balls there is a pic that shows the line the ball will travel. Now I have very little spin but my ball is drilled to hook some, does the hook of the ball depend on spin or drilling the ball a certain way. Thanks ahead of time for helping me out here will my questions.

Ok, in the line up as of Right now, as of today, there is nothing like the bugrand hammer. That ball is a urathane cover with the classis hammer core which is in the Blade line. As of a few months ago, there was a ball, the Pure Hammer, which was a blend of urathane and reactive cover with the calssic hammer core, which would be comprable. Just recently, this ball was discontinued, but you can prob still find it. IF you want to wait, in jun/july there is a new Pure hammer release that is just like the Burgandy hammer you have, same color, same core, and the specs will be similar.

For your second question, the way the ball hooks has to do with the bowler first, and the drilling second. The bowler has to know the proper way to throw the ball to create teh revolutions needed to "hook" the ball. After the bowler learns this, then you drill a ball to hook to your needs. Example, you need a heavy oil ball, then you drill teh ball to hook sooner, and the opposite if you are on a light oil lane.
