Pain and Big Rig Diesel To The Rescue!
« on: November 09, 2006, 03:58:17 PM »
The shot has changed in our house and I've been losing 1 to 3 points per league session (bowl in 3 leagues all in the same center)for the past couple weeks. The skid/snap equipment that worked like a charm for 8 weeks now just skids or struggles to make it back to the pocket no matter how far right I stand or change hand positions and speed. So, the other night in the Masters League where we bowl 4 games I started out with a 207 and 195. I grabbed my Pain Doom which I've only thrown a few times in practice and went 259, 237 (opened the 10th with a pocket 7-10). Tonight in a regular 3 game league I shot 744, again using the Pain. What joy!!!! The early, heavy roll of the Pain with continuation was exactly the equipment change I needed to get back on track. Sorry, BW but for now the Pain rules on this heavier condition! What a great ball! It complements the Doom, Hawgzilla and Black Widow beautifully. It doesn't know what carry down or transition is. Heck, I moved all of 3 boards the entire night.

After league I tried out a Big Rig Diesel that I had less than stellar results with a couple months back when it was highly polished (bought it off Ebay for $26 plus shipping). I took it down to 2000 Abralon and then went over it with a grey scotch brite pad. What a great reaction I got tonight! It had an incredibly strong midlane read and then reved up like a tornado in the last 10 feet. I shot 289 and am still in awe of the powerful reaction I was getting.

I just want to say that if it wasn't for the Raw Doom that I bought last year after a teammate raved about it I would have never given Hammer a chance (people overall just don't throw it much around here), but I'll tell ya, it matches up with my game better than anything else I've tried. Hammer seems to put some thought into their releases and each one fills a niche instead of replicating a prior release, at least that's been my experience with the Dooms, Hawg Zilla, Hawg Wild, Widow and Big Rig Diesel.

Just had to share with everyone how thoroughly satisfied I am with my Hammer arsenal. A lot of people were experiencng over/under tonight but the Pain kept every shot in play and that is why NOTHING HITS LIKE A HAMMER!

Great post!  The Doom is what brought me to Hammer.  Once I used that ball I sold.

I have the Doom and Pain, which are both drilled exactly the same.  These balls have perfect separation.  Both balls hit and carry the world.

The Pain is the best tough condition ball I have thrown.  This ball does ignore carry down.  It also doesn't over react on the dry.  It just is amazing to say the least.

The Doom is also a great difficult lane condition ball.  Most reactive pearls don't work on tough patterns.  There usually hard to control.  Not the case with the Doom.  This ball kicks butt on tough patterns that are on the drier side.

If I was going to a tourney and could only bring 2 balls, the Pain and Doom would be it.  These balls are that good.  The Doom has had a lot of hype but the Pain has been lost in the shuffle.  That's a huge mistake for any bowler that bowls on difficult patterns.

I bowl on tough patterns every week in my league.  I have been on this league for 4 seasons.  So I have a good amount of experience on these tough patterns. So I have tried many balls on these difficult patterns and the one at the top of the list is the Pain!
