Pain vs. Toxic = much difference?
« on: November 24, 2006, 01:41:59 AM »
Is there really going to be much difference between the two? I have 2 Pains, one I keep at around 2000 and the other is OOB with a light polish on it for added length. Would I be splitting hairs by getting a toxic?

I saw this ball for the first time Wednesday night at the ProAm.  Billy Oatman had it along with a Pain.  He was using the Pain the whole time, however, and I asked him what he thought of the Toxic.  He said he liked it but that it was a lot snappier than the Pain, and got into a roll a lot later.  He liked the Pain because of how smooth it is and how quickly it gets into a roll.  I do think that it will be different enough from the Pain to at least warrant a look.  It should have much more length than even your polished Pain, and a much sharper break.  Also, you mentioned that you have one at 2000 and the other OOB, isn't the Pain 2000 finish OOB?

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bell Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Well the Pain is a solid and the Toxic is pearl and they have different weight blocks so I say yes there will be a noticable difference.. It also all depends on the drilling you use on both. I have a Pain and am drilling up a Toxic tonight. Its a great looking ball IMO..

I thought somewhere I read that the Pain was 4000 Abralon, but maybe I'm wrong.

OOPS, just looked it up on the Hammer site and you're right, it is 2000 Abralon. I guess that explains why before I polished the other Pain but had supposedly taken the first one "down" to 2000 that I thought they looked virtually the same....LOL.
