Pure Hammer
« on: February 12, 2005, 02:58:52 PM »
I've got a buddy of mine that is looking for the "perfect" urethane ball.  Perfect  meaning a urethane coverstock with a real core in it, not a pancake weight block.    Told him I'd ask for the opinions of others on the Pure Hammer.  I read all 5 reviews posted here but was wondering if there were others who had something to say.  Thanks!

I purchased one just last week.  It definitely sits somewhere between a Blue and Burgundy as far as total hook.  As luck would have it, there was a Black Turbo sitting on the rack behind my pair which was close enough for me to to throw.  The Pure Hammer was a bit earlier up front and a bit stronger on the back but pretty close.  Maybe three or four boards stronger overall.

I'm keeping my Pure Hammer at box surface for the time being.  I've had bad luck with solid urethanes soaking up too much oil and losing a bit of their bite.  It definitely hits like a Hammer, though.

I should also note that I recently purchased the Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle and I can't help but think the Pure Hammer and Gargoyle would make a good Urethane arsenal for someone who really can't get away from hitting up on the ball.

a good friend of mine has it. He loves it. Shot a 728 with it last week during a night league. He polished it up with a lot of bolish so that it gets a bit farther down the lane, and it also has the gerat and versatile hammer blade core. Great ball if interested in urethane. You might want to check into your local pro shop and get their opinions, but it is a good by, and i might get one myself

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  I'll take that to my friend and see what he has to say.  Thanks again!

I just got mine this weekend, and I found it to be much, much stronger than I was thinking. Granted, I could put some polish to it, but, for me, this ball rolled kind of early but still flipped like hell on the backend. Granted, the lanes were pretty damn scorched, so who knows. I'm going to marble polish this bad dog and hope that I get more length and control out of it, because, as it is now, the ball hooks way too much for my intended purposes.

The ball is stronger than it looks.  Medium ball with controlled hook.
