I don't think you need to spend that much on a bowling ball yet. I would first start out with a plastic ball (maxim, white dot) but if you would like something that will react more then go with something like a scout, tornado's stuff like that

rotogrip supersonic great cheap ball for the price also every ball suggested is good. If you want straighter ball go with the pure hammer or plastic like also suggested-barry

Back to KLOvers original question......

I think this ball would be okay for you, because if you learn with a plastic ball and then try a moderately aggressive piece of equipment, you will have an entire new learning curve once you make the switch.  If you and your pro shop do not think this ball would be 100% correct right off the bat, then maybe consider the urethane red pearl Hammer.

Any questions, just write me directly.

Nevertheless, GOOD LUCK!!

These are all good choices, but if your like the people I bowl with, blow $250 on a  ball in hopes of becoming a star.

all good advice. but I would not use a plastic ball. that is really outdated to the urethane days.

but using a ball one step down you can learn more control and releases because powerful balls are harder to control and you won't know how much is you and how much is the ball. making future choice will become a crap shoot.

so going with the one ball weaker line of reasoning the pure hammer may be the best choice. some entry level balls have very high rgs and will jump off the dry their shells are still strong. that is not conductive to learning. I like Pure hammer because you will learn control and still have a quality ball for light oil when you upgrade to a med ball.

if you are just learning the flip balls may slow down your learning.

I found it on bowling.com.....
errrrrr, now what weight should i get?

I usually bowl with the 14lb house balls at the local bowling alley.

I'd appreciate it if you'd all help with this 2?
Thanks

some people say bowl with the weight of your age(if you're young) but ive heard if you throw a houseball that a FITTED custom ball you should go a pound heavier(than the heaviest houseball you can handle throwing)...also depends on your body build....

since you throw a 14lb houseball i say go 15lbs....im no expert though

First off for my first ball I would go to a local pro shop(Check the internet to get an idea of price and add $40-$50 for drilling).  I also would check around and get some idea if the ball I need would be pearl or a solid(by asking other bowlers or pro shop operators).  It is one thing for someone who has been bowling a while to buy from the internet and take to a pro shop.  Being a new bowler, they will be laughing at you behind your back; even if you make the right decision.  In my opinion I would spend the extra and go to one of the mid-price balls, it's going to cost you an extra $25; but I think it will be worth it.

The Pure Hammer will make an Excellent intro ball for you.
With its mild reactive cover and earlier rolling core you will be able to learn how to control the ball with this one.

Power Groove has been mentioned multiple times, but since this is the Hammer forum and I am slightly biased, I would recomment the PURE over the power.
