i was told the razyr is possibly stronger than the Doom, do you think that's true? My Doom is quite strong, almost not controllable on broken down dried up lanes. Do you think the razyr would be stronger than the doom on dry lanes?

Why would a Rayzr be stronger than your Doom when it has a pancake core? If anything, the Rayzr would be more controllable.

Agreed. If you go to hammerbowling.com and look at the video. The thing barely hooks. Pancake core doesn't make the ball want to flip or anything. Not saying it isnt good, it just does what it is designed to do...

the guy at my pro shop said even though it's a pancake core, the coverstock is very strong. I didn't think this sounded right so i asked the question here on the forum.

Granted the coverstock is strong, but if your Doom is 'uncontrollable' there's no way the Rayzr would be stronger than that. Now, if your Doom was burning up on the lane condition, then I would probably say the Rayzr would be stronger.

I just drilled one up...Used it on heavier oil and it was a great ball.
I'm a lefty, and could play the ball down and in.
I'm a high tracker, and I was clipping the holes on light oil conditions.
Ball wouldn't finish if I moved inside. (Pancake core).

Used it one game in league...am selling it to another lefty I bowl with.
He lofts about 15-20 ft....It'll probably work for him.

The razyr is a condition specific ball for me. Its not really a dry lane ball unless you play with the cover. It plays better on a flat pattern, and can handle medium oil. I bought it to play on a shorter oil shot with dry boards to the outside. It didn't work for that. Jumped of the dry a little to hard and I couldn't keep it from going to high in the pocket. I would have moved right more with it (lefty)but it doesn't recover if you try to swing it even a little and the carry is bad. Flat 7's all night. On the low end of the house where the oil is medium and you don't have dry to the outside, you can play between 5 and 10 up the boards and if crushes the pocket. Pull it inside and it holds. Compared on the shot I just mentioned the razyr can be stronger than the doom, but the doom is the more versatile piece because it covers more boards and you're not held to playing one particular shot.
