suggested drilling for Hot Sauce???
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:01:42 AM »
I am thinking about getting a Hot Sauce and am wondering what you people out there suggest for a layout when getting it drilled up.  I throw the ball relatively hard and try and stay right on the lane.  What is going to give me the strongest overall reaction??

Probably something with pin under. The ball goes long by nature. Pin over may be too much length for you. This is going on pure speculation as my hotsauce won't be here until monday, but from what I read, you may want to do something like 4 1/2 x 4, pin under ring!

I drilled mine 70 degrees 3 3/4 inch Pin to PAP and 20 degrees to VAl. No weight hole required. The ball had a 3 inch Pin to CG distance.

The ball goes 45 feet and then kicks VERY hard. VERY skid snap. This ball is the real deal if you want that kind of look....

I'm assuming you're considering the Hot Sauce because you want good length, and a strong, very sharp-angled breakpoint.  It's always been my opinion to drill a ball to it's strength, so, with mine, I did just that.  I have the pin above, and just to the right of my ring finger, and the CG in the center of my grip.  I haven't had the opportunity to throw it yet, but I believe it will give a pretty sharp backend look, as my Emerald Vibe does with the same layout.  The only other thing to consider is, this has a tendency to be a ball and layout that wants to be played from the inside, and given some room to open up a lane a bit.  Not to say it can't be used from playing outside on the lane, but I've always found it a bit diffiult, but if that's your game, and you're accurate and can usually find a line out there, then this will be a look that will give the ball a hard drive into the pocket.

Any other updates from bowlers on their Hot Sauce? I'm looking at picking one up soon and your opinions would definitely help.

Thanks.

I have a pin over ring 4 1/2 pin to pap cg stacked no weight hole, ball is pretty long on some patterns. Mine kicks left at 45 feet or so covering all the boards at once, good ball very snappy like already stated.

i used a white pad to kill barely some of the shine and it is still long, more of an open up the lane type of ball.

OOB finish gives it alot of push and good pop.  If you throw the ball very fast, I'd definitely suggest a low pin or a very aggressive pin placement(in the 3" pin to pap area).

i think 1/2"  stronger pin than normal is good move on this ball, i could have went 4 inch easy maybe even 3 1/2. All i know it kicks left when enough friction is there down lane, hockey stick at it's finest.

question for mrbowlingnut & agroves, this is what i currently have:
sauce drilled 70* x 4", pin up, oob. thinking of hitting it w/2k abralon.
sauce 2: 70* x 4 1/2", pin down, oob.thinking of hitting it w/1k-2k abralon
have a hot sauce ready to drill, but am going back and forth if i should go 75* x 4" or 4 1/2". definitely going pin up though.
figured if i did the 4" pin for hot sauce, i would get a little more flare considering the core.

looking more for something like nationals. figure i can alway tweak it when we get back home if it doesn't go long enough, which with my hand, don't think that will be a problem.

I like the pin high idea just split in half go with 4 1/4 pin to pap, mine is drilled in the 80 degree range. it clears the heads and has some length in it, can go through the breakpoint with either too much head oil or too much speed.

The nationals lane surface hook aton when the oil goes away, my driller has told me go to 2k abby on Hot Sauce and it should kill the fresh shot. He says dulled pearls that clear the fronts have early on have been working well, that boards 7,8,9,10 open up after a game or so.

The pro lane surface is actually more hook than I am used to on in my leagues, miss inside and boom through the nose you will go.

thanks for the info. will prob go with the 4 1/4" pin up. will definintely keep the 2k adjustment in the back of my mind when i go out to nationals in late april.

thanks again.
