Taboo Success
« on: November 21, 2010, 02:08:11 PM »
I haven't had a chance to write my review of the Taboo yet. I will post a full review of the ball within the next day or so. But tonight was the first night I used this ball in league play after drilling it Friday night. I shot games of 258, 235, and 300 for a 793 set.. The best part of the whole night was only making a one board move left with my feet going into the last game..

This ball is absolutely amazing and looks great on the rack, wall, and lane. I know we always say/hear "get this ball" or "this is a must have".. but I will say it, this is a must have ball, get it!!

Fatboy8 - you bought a Swagga..it is the same ball as the Taboo just a slight cover change.

Nothing new just blue.

Throw them side by side and you'll see the obvious difference.  No where close.

Apples to Apples, not really close to the Swagga at all. In my opinion, you are a little off base with that comment. I see a completely different shape off the breakpoint from Swagga than I do with Taboo.. Just like I see a completely different motion from Plague to Swagga. Not the same core, not the same cover, so not the same ball..

Swagga is more angular (for me) than Taboo. Taboo is by far one of the smoothest Asymmetrical bowling balls I've thrown, more so than I thought the Plague was.. The cover is much more responsive to changes than any ball I've had in the past..Out of box it's great, 1000 abralon fantastic, 1000 abralon w/ Factory Finish Polish is phenomenal..

Taboo will be the standout ball in this run of releases coming up. It saw a lot of action in Vegas at the WSOB and after throwing it myself on a couple different patterns this morning, I can see why.

Cannot wait to get one, wish I could have gotten one before tryouts for the All-Navy team, but will just wait until it comes out.

Justin please show me where the core is different. I point you to extra frame where even Bill O'Neill said it was the Widow core in the Taboo.

Straight from the Hammer bowling website:

Hammer Bowling’s original rule breaker is at it again. Introducing the hot new Taboo. First we started with the venerable Black Widow core. Then we wrapped it in our brand new Grand Theft Reactive Coverstock. And, as if that wasn’t enough, It’s our first ball to be poured with our game-changing HD color process. What’s that mean for you? Far more hook and continuation in the backend culminating in a ball that just strikes more.

I did mention that the cover had been changed. Cool colors!

Jeff is very clever with his response.  If both balls are thrown side by side in box condition the reaction will look slightly different.

SkidSnap,

I apologize.. I misread something in your statement and I was wrong..the same core is in both balls..I was rushing through things and didn't look at what you were saying..someone on another site was telling me the same core was in the plague as in the swagga and he was wrong..Sorry once again for being wrong on that note.

Technically, the 'Widow' core and the 'Gas Mask' core are not the same.
Extremely similar, both in shape, and more so in RG/Diff.  But they are actually different, no matter how small the difference.
