trouble with the deal
« on: December 31, 2004, 02:29:59 AM »
is anyone having trouble making their deal turn. i mean i cant get this ball to do much, lots and lots of length. on another post i saw to sand it down a bit then hit it with a little polish, well when i did this it hook up so early it was wild, then the next day it wasnt able to move again. ive been thinking and thinking about what to do with this ball. today i am gonna get it drilled with a stronger drilling and if that doesnt work maybe knock out some of the thumb weight

anybody else got an expierence they would like to tell about this ball

this ball had alot of trouble hooking in the box finish. You will have to rough it up with a scotch brite pad to make it work better on oily lanes..

do a search, there are alot of posts about this ball over the past serveral months. Not to many people liked the deal in the box (polished) finish..

This ball is awesome, one of the best I've ever thrown.  Period.  My advice would be to take it to the shop and ask for a 1500 or 2000 smooth wetsand.  If you can't get it to "Turn the corner" you're either severely rev challenged or top the ball too much.

DP3,

you and g_thing are the only 2 people I know that liked this ball. LOL!! That ball was a huge disappointment for Hammer/Ebonite and was mis marketed bigtime. Everyone thought it would be a hook monster in the box finish and it was nothing more than a light to medium oil ball.

g_thing did scotchbrite his Deal and he likes it now..

I personally bought the Real Deal and love this ball!! Its box finish and yes it does hook. If I would decide to scotchbrite it down some, I probably couldn't keep it on the lane.

love my deal. drilled it out w. a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 layout and it rolls great. shot a 290 game w/ it in travel lg. and am averaging over 220 w/ it when i use it. works best on a lite to med. condition. also have a real deal which works graet on heavier patterns. i agree surface makes a BIG difference, don't think the deal was designed a heavy oil. most of my equipment i layout in the 3 1/2 to 4 in. pin layout, but the drill sheet had a 2 1/2 in. pin layout for more hook, since i'm rev challenged i opted to try the 2 1/2 layout which gives an earlier look and glad i did.

Don't wanna highjack the thread but 1st 300 on 1/1/05 with the Deal.  Too bad no ring for it but it sure was pretty fun.  Thanks hammer, I wouldn't have rolled it with anything else in my hands.

I keep The Deal in my bag but I don't know why.  If there's any oil on the lanes, it just doesn't move (my Power Groove is a cranking ball compared to it.)

Tried roughing up the surface and that does provide some roll.  Still haven't thrown it more then one frame at a time in league.

Seems like there's potential for burnt lanes...

I didn't like the ball at first. Where I bowl league the lanes are dry. I went to another house that has synthetic lanes and a medium oil shot. Squared up a little and shot 220 something. Great control. Just need a little oil. For those complaining about not getting the ball to move, drill it a little stronger and maybe take the shine of. It does go a little long. I don't think it mean't to be swung. Play a little straighter and watch it hit. Nothing hits like a Hammer.

The ball is definately not for the rev challenged.
We could not give these away because of the bad rep
it had received. I even have a friend who is on the
Hammer staff say that the deal was quote "No Deal".
He drilled one for a guy in my league, who cranks the
ball, and the guy shot 300 in box finish. It is a
medium to light conditions ball for most people. It was
mis-marketed to say the least !

Dont say last Hammer to be in your hands....that ball just sucks. Thats why they made the real deal and dropt the deal. Pick up a Real Deal or anything from the Diesel line.

Those r the best balls.
