Very dry lane ball?

Yo, I bowl in the junior gold events in my area and am looking for a ball I can use in the late games, I am thinking of going with a negitively drilled ball, and if you dont know its possible to get 50-70 games on a pair, any way any help would be great, by the way... I have med-high speed but definitely not to high and a pretty high rev rate, not a good combo for dry lanes. Figured this might help...

Well if you're looking for a Hammer, the weakest ball they have out right now is the Vibe, and then there's the plastic Tuff.

Not a real dry lane ball, more of a light oil ball in the Purple Vibe. I guess if you want hammer you could drill that weak.

Your best bet is to get a visionary gargoyle.  It's a urethane bowling ball with a higher end core.

Just to clarify, that would be a Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle.  The others all have reactive or particle covers.  I would still drill it weak, however...and you will probably have to polish it if a pair has 50-70 games on it.

By the way, nothing will score "normally" on that shot.  If you normally bowl on decent oil, and average, say 220, I would hardly expect even the most versatile bowler in the world to be able to not leave more splits, opens, soft tens, etc. on the condition that you described.

If you play slow, Brunswick's Urethane Groove can work well, too. And the Power Groove Dry/R is also good for light oil - but probably too much for real dry lanes.

My personal advíce would also be the Slate Blue Gargoyle, or, if you do not have any head oil left at all, the XXXL.

Slate Blue Gargoyle seems to be the majority recommendation. I will second that as the Lane #1 Bullet is too strong for the deserts and then if you need to step down any further, I would suggest an XXXL or Crystal Diamond also.

Nice Pink Hammer would also suit the bill if the desire was to stay with Hammer.  Or some of the Nails (don't remember them all).  Blue Pearl Urethane or the Red as well....again....all Hammers.

little bit of a screw up there on my last post (hit a wrong key) any way alot of lane 1 stuff kinda suprised me and I am definitly not stuck on hammer as for the urthane balls I was under the idea that they hook kinda early but have not thrown one on dry lanes (or one that fits my hand) as for that slate blue gargoyle I pretty much know nothing about visionary balls, how are they?

the gargyle is a good ball but hook a little more in the back then you think the ball is very angular. Now, it you can find a dyno-thane barrage your in the money
if you do what a blue slate gargoyle i do have one with like 30 games on it 40 shipped.

I have a Slate Blue Gargoyle, and it is drilled strong - even for dry conditions, since the coverstock is so hard. I can play it well down 10th board as long as there is a little head oil left - haven't had the occasion to use it on totally scorched and high grip lanes, I expect this ball to become handy in the summer season.

You may want to look into getting a rotogrip mercury or there new relase which is supposed to go even straighter, the neptune.  I drilled a mercury and it's a solid 5-7 boards weaker than my tour menace which is like a red pulse.  When i find enough friction the carry is excellent.

Sometimes these aren't that hard to find.  I know I've gone through two and am now in possession of my third one.  I've also seen quite a few on eBay in the last couple of months.

Drilling negative would be the best bet. Put the pin in the track and cg close to or on grip line and mid line, keep it out of the thumb quadrant because you will lose your forward roll into the pins (wich helps minimize splits) and the ball will over react. Its a lost art of drilling balls like this but still very effective exspecialy on jr gold when its hard to get the ball through the front part of the lane. If you can get a good pin out distance then that would be even better, some where around 4-5 inches . If you can find a red pearl ureathane hammer that would also work. The xxxl balls are good but I find them more of a light oil ball for myself anyways lol. Good luck.
