Vibes - Midnight between Onyx and Cherry?
« on: March 23, 2013, 09:10:49 PM »
Just starting to explore resin after only using urethane previously (a clue from my username!) and just recently have started to throw an Onyx and Cherry Vibes with these layouts:

The balance hole on the Onyx is about 3.75" (none on Cherry).

I am a stroker, about 16-17 mph, no clue on rev rate.  The Onyx is drilled very strong as I understand it - I get a good snap on THS, whereas the Cherry is smoother.

I am thinking something might fit between those two for a THS and have the possibility of acquiring a Midnight.  Any opinions on layout for the Midnight for this purpose?

Thanks for any thouhts!

Nice acquistions! The Cherry will be the longest and the Onyx earliest and strong. The Midnight will fit nicely under the Onyx and above the Cherry as it will be a tad stronger and earlier than your Cherry. Being that both are pearls with the same core, if they are too close for your game you can make a coverstock adjustment to the Midnight. Layouts and drillings are very subjective to a bowlers game. If you like the drilling on the Cherry, just have the pin lowered a bit on the Midnight (no balance hole) and you should be good to go. As usually always talk to your drilling professional about your game and what you are wanting. Known several bowlers who made great arsenals just out of the Vibe line. Good Luck in your jump to resin.
