What adjustment do you make?
« on: November 20, 2008, 11:01:51 AM »
What adjustment do you make when it looks like your throwing a good ball but the results are bad. I recently bought the Sauce for the heavier than usual oil condition at my Tuesday house. The ball is doing what I wanted and getting to the pocket strong ,maybe to strong? (I'm a lefty) I'm leaving 7's on very solid shots. Had 2 7-10 splits (almost 3) and a 9 pin on very, very solid hits. The ball is at 1000 abralon. I love the reaction but I'm wondering if it might be a bit too much.

JohnN: I would consider bringing the surface up a little bit at a time, as it sounds like the ball is too strong at 1000 abralon for what you are seeing. The 7-10's may be the ball expending too much energy too early. Think about going to 2000 abralon and seeing how that works.

Otherwise you could do eye/targetting adjustments as well as hand position looks to get the ball to finish less aggressively. Sometimes when I'm hitting too solidly I try to hit lighter and see if my carry percentage goes up.

I'm a lefty as well, so I know what you go through from time to time in search of the right look on the lanes. Good luck.

I wouldnt change surface because as you explaind it is entering the pocket solid.

I too came across this last friday's league and didnt even think about moving as I was hitting the pocket so well but I kept leaving 9's and other weird leaves including multiple messengers that missed every time.

I think these new ball hit harder in terms of angle of entry and its starting to become a problem ( my own opinion )

I would go old school IMO and move back or forth OR change hand positions/less or more hand... another words adjust first.

i had a similar situation with my sauce and not carrying. i changed my target area and looked more down lane, and so far the results have been much better.

Sounds like a quarter board left or right move would work, but you can never be too solid.  I have found that if my Sauce hits the pocket, it pretty much obliterates everything.  Getting to the pocket has been my challenge, since it's a lot of ball and I am not quite used to it.
