Just curious, why do people want to know what layout the PBA guys are using? It really makes no difference as they are bowling on much tougher conditions than any THS most people bowl on.. Everyone is also different on what patterns and layouts can be used safely for each bowler.. What works for the pros might never work for someone else..

I can see wanting to know what ball, but knowing the layout at least for me is not helpful at all..

Curiousity for starters.

Education for second.  I'm constantly trying to learn more about the more technical aspects of the game.  You can be told that a ball drilled a certain way will react in a given manner, but seeing that put into practice is a completely different thing.

It's also interesting to see why a certain bowler made a specific choice.

I read that he was using the NO MERCY.  Can someone confirm this?

Doug Kent is a great bowler and this maybe his year to shine.  We all know he has some great equipment in his hands

Its much easier to understand ballmotion that way.

I hope Doug Kent wins this tourney.  It would be even better if he wins it with the No Mercy.  He's really kicking some butt with the new hammers.

I would also like to see Kent throw the Pain or Doom sometime.  That would be cool.  I'm surprised the Pain or Doom never made a telecast.

I doubt you'll see the Doom or PAin on TV for the simple reason that they are on the lower end of the price range. Most ball manufacturers want their higher end stuff to make the show to try and push the sales of the high end balls. We all know the lower end stuff performs well for most people. This is why the Manufacturers want the public to see the image of the higher end stuff being "better" since we all know that the "PBA guys can choose whatever they want and they chose that ball...must be better huh?"

True you saw Ryan Shafer and Robt Smith using Thunderstrucks in the Japan Cup and TJ made a living off the Big Time 2 years ago but....well, you get the idea.

Your right!  I'm sure they get a nice kick back for using a top shelf ball on TV.

I'm sure these guys use the mid priced equipment during match play and what not.

I think Doug Kent has been with Hammer for a while.  Didn't he use one of there mid priced balls on TV a few years ago?

I like this guys style.  His balance is perfect.  If a begining bowler wants to emulate a pro this is the style to use.  This guys form is perfect.  He makes bowling look easy.

Some pro's styles make bowling look hard.  Take Tommy Jones for example.  It's amazing that this guy is as accurate.  His style looks very difficult.  Great bowler though!

A staff member is not pushed toward a ball because of the retail selling price. There have been plenty of telecasts featuring staffed players that did not use the companies latest and greatest. If a player is going to have any respect for a ball rep then he/she would expect that ball rep to suggest the best ball for him or her regardless of the line or price of the ball.  The company/ball rep is representing the company for which he is employed by. Having their player perform well/win is paramount. If a Brunswick staffer wins with a BVP Nemesis than that is just as good as winning with an Inferno.

Now, I have different sites on this. I think it has to atleast be something new. Say Patrick Allen wins throwing an old Havoc or Animal, people would be asking what he threw, and he'd say the Animal.. And it goes on to, well, where can I buy one, and then there aren't alot left. I think its all about marketing. If I see Parker Bohn throw a 300 on TV using a Domination Paradigm, I'd be like thats a great ball..
