What to expect from BW Pearl?
« on: September 13, 2006, 02:40:04 AM »
So the current BW is 4000 abralon which basically becomes sheened with polish/oil after a couple games.  This ball gets pretty good length already, so what more will a Pearl do?

I'd expect it to go LOOONG then BOOM! But how much longer can it be seeing as how this ball gets really long as it is.  Maybe its a lower grit underneath the pearlization?  Just wanna know how they would be so different seeing as how the current Widow is already at 4000 grit.

our feedback is that the ball is smooth, on the backend,  strong and smooth.
also, i would stay away from polish.  leave it at the 4000 pad.
polish can make it over/under.

number one seller in aug, and still in sept.

My experience with my 2 BW's is that although they get good length they are prone to overreacting when the lanes are drying up due to the extremely high differential (the backend snap is just something that amazes me) I've also noticed they're prone to minor nicks and scuffs which I leads me to believe that the coverstock is rather soft. So, a pearlized version would make perfect sense in that it would be somewhat harder lending itself to more skid and less overreaction as the lanes transition.

Hammer appears to me to be producing products that are logical and fill a niche. Instead of replicating balls that only confuses the customer, the Doom, BW and Hawg series all seem to have a place in the hierarchy of an arsenal.
