Why is this?
« on: January 05, 2007, 03:54:29 AM »
I just purchased a Raw Hammer Pain and I've never seen a ball pick up dirt and grime so quick.  Is there a reason for this?

No, no, no.  You've not been following or not been around long enough.  On BR, Humbaba is the bowling deity, Son of Clyde and cohort of The Plying Pink Cow.  Humbaba is Clyde's messenger to the bowlers.  He recites from the Books of Earl, Marshall and Walt.  He causes 10 pins to stand and even the dread smash 7-10.

Rags,

I can't believe they haven't heard the stories of the Great Humbaba and The Flying Pink Cow.  There used to be some great stories around here.... ahh.. the good ol' days....

Now MarvinsSkelton is 25 and Rags is 61.  I am comfortably in the middle at 48.  Why haven't I heard of Humbaba and the flying pink taco?  I've joined the hijackers.  I am a convert!

I've tried to search, but get an error message.  Some time ago Marlowe and I (perhaps others?) wrote several treatises on the bowling pantheon of Clyde, Humbaba and TPC.  Too bad I can't find it.  Maybe Marlowe has it archived?

Neither of my Pains seems to attract any more "lane grime" than most other balls. The only answer I can think of is that your cemter needs to do a good 60 foot stripping.

The pain does have a moderately dull coverstock (2000 Abralon) so it's bound to absorb abd retain more oil and dirt, but I haven't seem an unusual buildup of anything on mine that I would consider unusual or excessive.

They are false dieties!!!

The true bowling gods are The Great God Brunswick and his evil twin sister, AMF. Brunswick is a drawf, long beard, loves ale, beer and spirts, is chaotic good by nature, can be bribed, can be a bit capricious at times and passes out on occasion. He carried a club as his symbol and is basically a good enough being. When you get those really weird strikes, backup hits things like that, thank Brunswick. He loves chaotic games. His sister....AMF...is also a dwarf, long beard, loves spirts, is always capricious, hateful, is responsible for leaving solid 7, 8, 9, and 10 pins, plus pocket 7-10's, not to mention those nights when you're in the pocket all night and get nothing good for your efforts. She usually takes over when Brunswick is passed out. She can be bribed but usually takes your money and gifts and then screws you, laughing all the time.

These dieties were created by my bowling team one night when it was slow bowling. And yes, we all play D&D. So if you are having a bad night, blame AMF, if it's a good night...thank Brunswick. And be sure to make an offering to him or he might get offended...meaning have a Beer and toast to Brunswick!
