It actually replaces two of my existing balls because of its versatility!!

It reminds me of a Full Swing and Ransom Demand, just cleaner through the front part of the lane.  Rolls REALLY good.

How much love does a ball need that's been recycled several times, now re-released with a different cover prep?  Nothing wrong with the ball, but it's far from a new release to be excited about.

I really wanted to get the Taboo JB, but was reading a lot of good reviews about the Brunswick Versa Max.  I was having ahard time getting the JB from my shop through his distributor.  During the "waiting period", I read more and more about the VM and less about the JB. I ended up with the VM instead and so far I love it!
Not dissing the JB at all, but guys giving positive or negative reviews about a ball make a difference to some of us are  that are leaning one way or another.

I know it sounds like I'm in denial, but I'm not.

I am actually getting a Versamax Thursday to compliment the Jet Black. The Jet Black is much harder off the spot. I have mine at 4000 and it handles oil well, Im planning on the Versamax to be step down..

It looks like a great ball; however, I think it's overpriced for such old core technology. When you're using the same core for about the 15th time, the price should reflect that since no money was spent developing the core.

Agreed it is overpriced for a block recycled a few times. I know hammer will spin it with the new cover stock but I think that is a weak argument. With that said, I do have one. I was not going to purchase it due to price and no pre-release discount. I figured I wait until they go on closeout. My wife however, heard me talking about it with someone else and decided to surprise me with it. I have already won a tournament with it and am VERY happy to have it in the bag. I also have a swagga and org. taboo. I use these three for med - heavy conditions. As for the versa max, many are throwing them in my area. I think a JB at 2000 with a VM OOB would make a great one two combo. But so would a JB at 2000 with a JB OOB. I think the VM and JB are pretty close in boards covered and how they do it. I have not seen anyone hit the cover on the VM yet, so I can't comment on it. The JB is a great ball though. I think some will be buying after seeing mine in action. I have no affiliation with hammer but would be willing to listen if they had something to say.

I have to agree with   ......... Ski. I just purchased the Jet black based on the idea it was for medium oil and I wanted something polished that would go longer with a little more torque. Something harder off the spot. I purchased a Black Widow when it came out and I did not like it. THIS BALL is better than that. Yes, I know, same ole' weight block. What does that matter other than the price. More and more THS's do not break down in the middle. What I found with this ball, I was able to keep moving left and launching the ball through the Top Hat and getting that one move late. The more I moved left the and added tilt the more the ball responded at the break point. This ball paid for itself in league Friday night and in a tourney over the weekend and cash left over to order two more. My Pap is 5 over and an 1/8th up. I had the ball drilled with a favorite. 5.5 * 55 * 35. I need to add this point. With less tilt and axis, I was able to go down the lane, ride the top hat just inside the heavy oil line to my break point and still get carry.  The best example of this ball is at bowlingball.com watch the video. Same layout on two balls, with very different responses plus a third with Curly. http://www.bowlingball.com/products/bowling-balls/Hammer/10139/Taboo-Jet-Black.html   Finally, it's always about personal choice and what works for you. This worked for me.

The fact that you did not like the Original Black Widow is not a convincing argument for most of us.

I agree with you 1/8th! Would not want to convince anyone about the purchase of any ball. I learned a long time ago what works for someone else is not necessarily going to work for me. It took me a bit to take the plunge on this one and glad I did. I was looking for some chatter regarding the ball before I purchased it and could not find any. Last night was the second League Night with it. The pattern was flooded in the middle with OOB at 10 and right. One of my team mates purchased the ball during the week after watching my reaction last Friday. So, what does he do, 990 for 4 with an opening 200, three opens on the night, 280, 268 and paid for the ball. I threw 920 with an opening 720 and 4 opens for the night. Hammer has my attention with this one. I purchased a second one................................
