World Beater Vs. Taboo
« on: January 08, 2011, 06:33:40 AM »
I need a  new ball and narrowed it down to a  few. The Taboo, World Beater and the  Pure Physics. I am a Tweener and am  looking for a solid cover stock  for Medium Oily conditions. I could  really use some help.

Thanks.

Has anyone thrown both of these balls? If so can you differentiate the 2? Thanks!

i have the taboo and a pure phsyics the taboo hooks a lot the pure is a great med oil ball . I have hade a chance to throw the wb yet prefferably i wouldnt get the taboo for med will be too much ball and from the looks and other people the wb is a heavier oil ball.

Your best choice would be the pure for med heavy-med

Yes I have a Taboo and I have only been able to throw the ball a game and a half. Just to much ball it hooks a ton, just don't see enough oil for more use. Hopefully it will work great for nationals.

Depending on your stats.....all of those choices would be too strong for medium conditions.

I currently have a Burst. I am a tweener usually  standing between 10-20 and throw 8-15. I have medium revs and a medium  track. I throw league typical house pattern. The Burst is coming in a  light and I need something with more back end. I  also am looking to  complete an arsenal for some tournaments coming up. I looked at the new  World Beater and Taboo, and am most likely going to get one or the other  drilled with a strong layout. I think I made need something between the  Burst and whichever one I decide on getting. My pro shop guy raves  about the Nomad Solid, and I have heard excellent things about the  Burst. I was looking for feedback from people who know both balls that  can help me hone in on the right one.

I would probably say the Taboo is marginally stronger than the World Beater based on the telecast. However, this is without knowing the surface adjustments made to either balls. We are talking maybe a board or two. So, basically pick which brand you prefer and you shouldn't be disappointed either way.

If I were to go with either the Taboo or World Beater, would I still need the Outburst?

It would really depend on how your approach heavy oil equipment. Personally, I would save the Taboo or World Beater for actual tournament conditions and use the Outburst as my league oiler and the first ball I move down to when the Taboo and World Beater burn up or get to strong on a tournament pattern. As well, we don't know enough about how well the cover on the Taboo or World Beater take to surface adjustments. I know from experience that the Outburst takes very well to surface adjustments and be modified to fill many voids in a tournament arsenal.

I followed your advice and got The Outburst. I bowled last night in a  league which I have been struggling(185 average). 268, 215, 210 for a  693 series. This ball is a beast nuff said. Thanks for the  recommendation.

It could always be something else.... but It Is what It Is.

I can comment on this topic about Taboo Vs World Beater because I was in a tournament this weekend that had a ton of oil on the lanes; The 2011 King Pin tournament in Goldsboro, NC.  Might I also add it was by far the hardest lane conditions I've face since being back only 1 year.  There were a lot of people throwing the Taboo's and there were also some people throwing World Beater's including myself.  There was a guy with as much hand as I have and we were playing better much in the same area of the lane at the arrows but the back ends were different.  I looked at the Taboo layout that was on my lane and it was exactly like mines.  The layout is pin down under the middle finger but closer to the bridge and MB kicked out at about 45 degrees.  The World Beater reads the front and mid-lane stronger and faster than the Taboo but the Taboo was stronger on the back end coming off the spot, while the World Beater is a bit more smoother.  So traveling down the lane the World Beater is probably 3 boards more stronger in the mid lane and the Taboo is probably 3 boards stronger on the back end;  I would say the Taboo reads the back end earlier than the World Beater by probably 1.5 feet sooner.    Both are great heavy oil balls IMHO for what I've seen this weekend.

Now for people with hand, the Taboo and World Beater is way too strong for your THS and the USBC red, white and blue oil patterns.  This ball for me will only come out of the bag when I go to tournaments.
