Finally fit the Cobalt Solid
« on: December 23, 2006, 12:41:28 AM »
I've struggled trying to get the Cobalt Solid  to fit in my bag.  It just seemed to over under in with the factory surface prep.  I've had great success with the Cobalt when I needed a long and strong ball.  So I took the Solid Uranium to 500 Ablaron (sp???) and cleaned the Cobalt Solid with Neo Tac Hook-It with a grey sotch brite pad and polished the Cobalt pearl with Reacta-Shine 800 polish. Starting with the Cobalt pearl was great but then there was some carry down, not having confidence in the Cobalt Solid I went to the Solid Uranium and it was too much ball so I decided to try the Cobalt Solid and I was amazed at how well the ball got through the heads and handled the carry down.

I belive the box condition of the Cobalt Solid is polished but after I removed some of the polish, the ball worked extremly well for me on medium conditions where the Cobalt pearl was going a little too long.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Barry,
1. What type lanes were you bowling on? Wood or synthetic?
2. What was the oil? Light, medium, medium-heavy-heavy, etc?

The reasons for my questions is that I have had excellent success with my Enriched Uranium that I recently purchased from Triggerman on synthetic lanes. It also will work on wood lanes by moving deeper, but that isn't my game and I am inconsistant doing that as I tend to want to "help the ball" when I move deeper.....So to sum it up I am thinking about looking for another Lane 1 ball for the wood lanes that will get thru the heads without moving deep and still handle the carry down.

Brick,

I was using the HDB before getting the Cobalt Solid and the HBD was very predictable and drilled 4 X 3 3/8.  But I liked the reaction on the Cobalt Pearl so much I tried the Cobalt Solid.

I use to play down and in then got caught up in a wood house that dried very fast and started to swing the ball everywhere.  My average suffered.  I have learned to take what the lane gives me and on a synthetic house shot, that is pretty much down and in.  With the back ends fresh, the Cobalt Pearl has been awesome but the Cobalt Solid was too squirty n box condition.  It wasn't until I used a grey scotch brite pad on the Cobalt Solid did I finally see the control and power of the Cobalt Solid.  I don't track too low but my stract is not considered high (4 7/8 and 3/8 up.  I seem to do better with solid bowling balls that are not skid flippy.  I also have the EU and that ball is a monster when the back ends are fresh but also could not handle the cary down.  A litle too unpredictable for me, but a powerful ball n the right hands.

Hope this helps, if you need more info, please message me.
