Recently got this little jewel from Shaggy.  Ball is drilled label leverage.  From the numbers and after talking with other Saw users, I was expecting it to fit between my pearl bomb (4X4)and my silver.  It gets good length but once it hits dry, look out.

This ball does not quit!  I was playing a medium/heavy top hat, oiled to 41'.  I have to play about 8 boards deeper with it than my pearl bomb.  I've never seen such an angular back end.

I can't believe drillings could have had that much difference in reaction.  This is also the first ball I've ever thrown that I can't flatten out for the 10 pins.  It may be able to get far enough right to barely nick the 6 pin.

Afraid to get the Cherry Bomb now, let alone the SCB.

I think you are spending way to much time on you the computer.
Don't they have shuffleboard or some other game there at the
old folks home?

I'm still waiting for the guy I bought a Pro Purple from on eBay to ship me the ball , so I don't have any input on it yet, but I will!

Using 14# stuff as I do, I'm finally going to get to test Lane #1's claim that the 16# ball's core in the lighter-weight balls makes a difference.  I'll let you guys know what I think... as soon as I get the !@#$ ball!

I think the Pro Purple is very drill and release sensitive.  I got mine used.  Threw it a game or two with the original drill since the span was very close to get a feel for it.  I believe it was drilled thumb leverage.  It hooked pretty early, and very continuous throughout from the midlane to the deck.  Much more than I was expecting.  Proshop talked me into drilling it 5.5 x 5.5 (if I remember).  Now it wouldn't do much of anything.  Would not hook in the oil.  Off the dry it became more angular, but if you hit any carrydown it was worthless.  For a strike ball, I needed to come around the ball to make it do anything.  It actually became a very good 10 pin ball for me.  If I came straight through it, it wouldn't hook on sawdust.  Had it redrilled one more time (label leverage).  I liked it better than the 5.5 x 5.5, but it still didn't impress me.  Maybe I should have kept it the way it was.

The Pro Purple is one of my all time favorite balls. I had modified the surface a few times with Trizact, but I have now restored it to the original specs, according to Lane#1. Mine is also drilled label, a 4"x5" for my PAP. It is a very strong ball for me, and is basically my oiler. As such, I don't get a lot of use for it, but I always carry it.

It is very release sensitive because the core is so mild, medium RG (~2.54) and low differential  (0.028 ~ 3-4"). The cover is most of the reaction.

Thanks guys.  Live & learn.  I have always equated oil balls with low RG, high diff.  Just did not expect this ball to move that much.  As I mentioned earlied there is now way I could ever find enough oil for anything stronger.  How people can use the Cherry Bomb and the SCB is beyond me.

This one is definately a keeper.

BTW, for all of the old timers, this has got to be the first time you've seen me tout a ball.

For the rest, too bad it's been discontinued.
